Of course it's a joke, it is stated at the beginning that they forget to remove the filler sections, of which this is one.

The key to The Plainview Technique (or as I also like to call it, The Bleeder Crimp) is to hold the cards in a really low grip. The closer it is to your wrist, the better.

By far, "Taking the Piss" is the best filler in Smooth operations, and it is an INGENIOUS method, I do say! I also found that the dark blue camouflage pants do work best, and have been practicing it whenever can: in class, at work, at a restaurant or wedding!
