Tips after proficiency?

I've been doing magic for about 3 years or so, on and off, 1 year pretty heavily. I am pretty adept at most sleights (read; false shuffles, forces etc) I really enjoy magic but have sort of hit a stand still. I was wondering if anyone could reccommend some good illusions for me to learn. I really like 'This, that and the other" and The whole gambit of "ambitious card" tricks.

So anyways, if you had to name 3 of the best illusions that dont need gimmick what would they be? thanks!

First, welcome to the forums. There are some of the best magicians here you will ever get to know here.

Secondly, one thing that I would recommend to you is to add as much detail as possible to your post so we can reply with the best answer possible. When you are wanting to learn illusions, give us more detail. Do you want card illusions, coin illusions, or potpourri magic?

What type of magican are you or would you like to be (street, stage, close-up, etc.)?

Thanks! I do a lot of close up card magic. I like to do quick sleights that seem like normal movements. I also like tricks that it seems as if the spectator has done the magic :) if that helps!

I would say try learning the Biddle Trick. It is only $4.95 here, and it is a great impromtu card trick.

Secondly, develop one ACR (Ambitious Card Routine) that you will always use. It is nice to have a single one that you perfect rather than five that you can barely do.

Thirdly, look into an illusion outside of card magic. There are several quick tricks here at Theory11 that would be great to open a routine.

This will give you somewhere to start. Try to perfect a few tricks rather than learning a bunch that you can do adequately.
