Yes ive read the Reviews, ive read its uses, ive read the downsides. YES. ive done all that (including the use of the search function)

i have a few specific questions though:

1. Would you suggest this to an avid performer? emphasis on the word AVID.

2. Is it really worth the price?

3. what about the downside? The price, and the cartridge drying up after a month.

4. You say all this, but do you still use YOUR ultrasmoke?

I think ultrasmoke is good for an avid performer in that it enhances your effects visually.
personally, I wouldn't consider it worth its price due to the fact that its not so versatile. You need pretty baggy, long sleeved clothing. A hoodie or coat would be ideal. So..its not really a trick you can do in the summertime...only winter or autumn. Thats a downside.
The cartridge does run out, but it will last for several effects.
The prop itself is pretty bulky, but not too much that it will stick out from under your clothes. But it is kinda uncomfortable.
The setup takes a couple minutes.
I only use it when I am really motivated to do an effect that uses this. Other than that, I don't use it AT ALL. Especially in warm climates. I only use it occasionally in the winter and fall.
But when you DO use this, its really cool. I like to play around with it when i have it with me like creating some puffs of smoke during class or something, haha.

Umm, the cartridge doesn't dry up over a month.

Anyways, no to all.
It's really not practical and I barely use it, and to replace the cartridges is too costly.
Spend your money on something better to enhance your knowledge on magic, not something to make it look cooler.

I personally adore ultrasmoke. It enhances my effects/routines by more than 10 notches. But then again, it's the price factor we're looking at here. Yes, it is costly. And unless you're serious about enhancing your style/routines with an extra "wow" factor, then go for it.

But if you're the kind who will take you days or weeks to save up for a single effect, then stay away from it. Ultrasmoke gives you nothing by itself; it only works best when combined with most effects (don't even try combining it with Wounded or King Rising).

i was thinking of doing it with a raven. or Silver Dream.

card-wise, it'd be wicked to combine that with stained skin. or tatoo joe.

so overall, its a waste of money then?

Doing it with Raven is cool, Silver Dream cooler! And there are many many many more effects which you can apply ultrasmoke to too.

Just imagine a pile of smoke appears out of thin air around your hands, then the 'magical' moment happens and it hits your audience so hard they were left stunt. If that's cool enough for you, then go for it ;)

I've just bought one of these so I'll let you know my thoughts when it arrives in the next couple of days.

I imagine it'd look really nice with lots of things - I've lots of bad on various forums and also lots of people that swear by it...So lets see how it goes!

I bought one years ago when they were first released.

It's fun to play with (just don't try it in an unventilated room!) I think I took it on one or two walk around gigs, but found that the inconvenience of wearing it outweighed the benefit. Let's face it, people often suspect your sleeves, so why actually have something up there to call attention to them. And yes, the chemical can discolor your cuffs.

Mine eventually dried out - I mean, I found it dry when I opened the box several years later. I managed a lot of use out of it when I was working with it.

The get up was a little bulky with the bulb and the hose. I wonder if it has been updated at all?

The problem with items like this - and FISM flash - is they are hard to use in moderation. I still have a FISM flash and when I pull it out, even now, I can't control myself.

If you felt that going through all the set up and fuss was worth it for that one moment - or should I say, you had one moment that was worth all that set up and fuss - then go for it.

Otherwise, I would think before investing.
