Live Flourishing

I don't use or know many flourishes, I just use a a couple false flourishes, I really like false cuts and false flourishes. I'm not an old school thinker in regards to flourishing, I truly enjoy seeing a skilled flourisher.

One thing that I find most odd is that virtually 100% of the flourishes that I see here or on youtube is strictly done for the camera. So what I'm asking is that a bunch of you guys who are proficient flourishers go out and do some tricks incorporating flourishers for a live audience. do a couple of tricks for the same person or group using flourishes.

I'm not capable of participating (lack of skill and want) but it would be cool to see a this turned into a series of battles.

how does this sound?

"You wanna battle, we'll battle" - Brian Tudor.

I never really noticed that you don't see many flourishes on the street or on the stage. I'm not very good either, but I usually just do stuff and hope to catch someone's eye and then walk up to them and do some magic... it's usually on the street or at school.

As I think about it now, I'm certain I've seen Ineski do some stuff in public.

I certainly flourish in public - flourishing is a great way to attract attention from potential spectators and gets them coming to you instead of the other way around. Furthermore, the ones who do come and approach you, I find, are generally the accepting, friendly type of spectators who are great to perform for, and usually give good reactions (the main exception in a few cases I would say is the "sophisticated" businessman type person who considers the construction of your flourished to be "elegant" - these types of people will appreciate your magic but probably not freak out, but rather respond typically with "That's impressive!" and "You've fooled me!").

However, that being said, flourishy tricks are not my style at all, I don't use any such effects; rather, I keep flourishing and magic separate. Flourishing stays out of the middle of my effects; although, as displays of dexterity and control they work well between tricks for me.

I flourish in public like a mad man. It attracts people (as stated) and it's something flashy to do during casual conversation. I do nice cuts and things in between tricks/routines as well as during them just to add a bit of my own flavor to it. :D

I don't like magic to be too flourish-y... Because to see a deck undercut and the card is controled seems more impressive than a cut the spectator doesn't follow controling a card.

Having said that I love flourishing, probably as much as magic, and of course it can be performed with or without magic. I remember watching a video where Liam Walsh (if you don't know who he check him out....) did some flourishing for spectators and they were impressed. Very cool watch.
I see no problem with showing flourishing to people. But I'd rather show magic y'know? Flourishing is kinda more a personal thing to do too...
Lee asher - the starbucks solution... Flourishing can attract spectators :)

Sure D+M did some flourishing on the dvd but he's a pro, a creator of flourishes that most flourishes use. He's many steps ahead of most people. I'm interested in seeing the people who get their videos featured here on T11 to show us all some real live flourishing for real people, to see the reactions as well as the skill of the person. performing in your home in front of a camera is so different then doing it for an audience, and that is what I would really enjoy seeing. I'm positive that all of us who appreciate flourishing would truly enjoy seeing it live. as well I reckon it will inspire others in a manner in which they haven't been before.

the starbucks solution is spot on, nice one Lee :)

Lets see someone use it!!

The first three repliers all said they flourish for public... Have you been reading your own thread?

LOL, of course i have been reading the thread, yes, they do say they flourish in public, but my point for this thread was to get them out of their bedroom/living room and flourish for a spectator during a small routine. I want to see LIVE FLOURISHING FILMED, hence the title for the thread. did you read my initial post????

Yep and we basically all said we did that... You were accusing people of only flourishing at home? Until now you haven't mentioned a thing about actually filming it. Let me quote...

Hmm. No filming there.

.....If your posts didn't change everytime, I'd have some motivation for arguing with you. As it is, your post is like a metamorphic rock - it shifts under pressure and quite frankly, it is beneath us and not worth the time.

LOL, your a real comedian, agreed, I didn't mention filming, I'm guilty of that, but were you really unable to comprehend the notion of what I was requesting? I'm really not interested in arguing I just want to see some live flourishing. Saying yes, you do flourish in public is great, I'd like to see it FILMED, ok there it is in capital letters :) I flourish in public as well but as previously stated, I'm not very good, hence I would like to see those who are proficient show us all something...new.

i sense a budding steerpike. hahaha. Anyway, I was actually thinking of going out and filming some flourish stuff to get reactions from people. Like standing in the train and having someone film peoples reactions instead of my flourishing.
