Hey theory11, i am working on a Close up magic reportoir, . I was wondering if any of you guys could make a Recommendation for a good hard hitting close up magic book/dvd. I am looking for something unique, not your everyday card tricks. i have been doing magic for about 5 years, so no BEGGINER BOOKs:)

Robert" The Mystifyer" Thanks!

I just ordered "The paper engine" by aaron fisher, it's a great book(at leats that's what the reviews say) it has a lot of very usefull sleights and a lot of tricks (all of them with cards) and has a lot of information on how to handle people during the tricks, a lot of tips on performance too...

The gravity half pass, the outjogged hermman shift, and the one handed pop out move are incredible...

Let me help you with this...

Where to buy it

And how the gravity half pass looks...

Also you could get a lot of usefull information on derren brown books, like pure effect and absolute magic... I am currently reading absolute magic, and it has some great tips and things to know when you are performing, If you have the money I highly suggest it...

Good luck and I hope this helps, Cheers man!:D

Totally Out of Control by Chris Kenner. Be warned...this is a VERY expert book, definitely not beginners. There are a lot of knuckle busting coin tricks, a lot of advanced card tricks, and theres even a nice rubberband routine in there. Lots of good tricks, and once you get them down, they're not tricks...they're miracles! Great book, highly recommended, if you dont have it alreade =) Hope this helped!

P.S the paper engine is also a great book! i have that as well!

So wait, 5 years in magic... you have a couple of gigs coming up and you don't have a close-up repertoire yet so you're looking for material now?

And no "BEGGINER BOOKs". No offense buddy, but the way you're addressing this issue seems like you could do with beginner books.

Asking for hard stuff now to practice for gigs which are soon is not the smartest thing to do.

Apologies if this comes off as harsh, but when someone comes asking these questions...

I completely agree with Sean_Raf. If you've been in magic for five years, and not only do you need a repertoire (which doesn't bother me so much), but you ask for one in the fashion of a beginner? Seriously, five years in magic and you're still asking for "hard hitting" books? You should know better... No offense, but it does sound like you need to go back to beginners book..
