On Demand: HDTV by Myles Nakouzi Review

What it says:

A multi phase transposition routine of two cards placed on top and bottom of the deck. Clean, surprisingly simple, and very direct. Some basic sleight of hand knowledge is required.

This On Demand clip teaches TV and HDTV. I will review both.

Quality: 9/10

Fantastic. HD quality.(no pun intended)

Teaching: 6/10

Clear, easy to follow. What killed this section the most was that Myles did not explain many sleights in this video. Even though the overview does mention that you need knowledge of vasic sleight of hand, I think that there is a need to at least briefly explain every sleight that is used in this effect. Myles however does point you to various sources to learn the sleights.

Effects

TV: 8/10

I like this small effect alot, it is visual and simple to perform. This is similar to Tivo 2.0, just that it is 10 times easier. I prefer this transpo to D&D's effect.

HDTV: 6/10

A continuation to TV. Combine both together, and you got yourself a routine. This section, however, has unnecessary sleights involved and I think it just extends the whole effect and the impact is less instead of more. The main part I like about this effect is the switch at the end. I will not use that for HDTV itself, but it will certainly go into my repertoire of sleights.

Overall: 6.5/10

Definitely not my favourite. TV is good, but HDTV just extends the effect unnecessarily. I have to be practical and honest, it is quite atrocious. Don't get me wrong, I like the ideas behind this trick, but the teaching in the video and HDTV itself is not good at all. This is so unlike other On Demand videos by Dan and Dave. Sorry, Mr Nakouzi, this is not a success.

Cheers,

Michael.

The site this effect was sold on has a forum.

Please post this there and keep it out of these forums.

He can review whatever trick he wants wherever he wants. Maybe some forum members here weren't aware of the effect, so he's informing them.

Go back to Ellusionist if you're gonna be that way.

Chill, he was misinformed, don't beat him to death about it.

As for the fact he didn't teach ALL of the sleights it's due to the fact he did not create them and doesn't have proper permission to teach them.

If you had a On Demand or 1-on-1 which used the Clipshift you wouldn't be allowed to teach it. Same goes with Myles.

Just wanted to point that out,

Exactly, as I said in the review, it informs that you have to know basic sleight of hand, but what I do not like is that it leaves many stones unturned. For example, the classic color change. He just tells you to look at Ricky Smith's On Demand video. I just felt that he should have at least gone through the basics of every move.

Cheers,

Michael.

Very true. I didn't even realize it was the classic color change. I thought it was something different.

I guess the "basic sleight of hand knowledge" is rather vague, but on a plus it gives you your own chance to fill in other changes or sleights that fit the trick better, if you don't know the exact method.
