I would just do your basic card tricks like a sloppy triumph routine, and ACR, biddle trick, etc. An invisible deck will fry them as well.

That age group is difficult because if you bust out a magic wand or silks in front of their friends...they tend to get embarassed or don't want to seem like they "enjoy" that type of magic.

If you do some "cool" tricks with cards, rubber bands and coins...it seems to go a little better. This is just my experience so take it as you will.

I'm sure other people on here will disagree.

Do you have any idea how vague that question is?

Roughly a quarter of the population of the United States is between the ages of 14-19.

Roughly 3/5 of those are boys.

And you want to generalize them all?

I'm siding with Rev,

Pretty much any impromptu trick with a deck of cards will work.
Finding aces, any color changes, biddle, 2cm, etc.

Don't get too complicated, most people are easily amused no matter the simplicity of a trick.

Keep it real with not a ton of gimmicks in your pocket.
Simple hits hard.

ehh im 15 and from experience showing classmates etc. i'd say that thread always seems to work for me and i also just use cards. Should about do it. Teenagers i do find are the funnest to perform to because they deff i think have the best reactions.

Oh and perhaps Fart Toon for some Jr High boys?

I totally disagree by the way with sponge balls. That is for kids around 8-11 years old what ever. If I were to bring some sponge balls to my school and show all the kids would start booing me and saying i know this trick, its crap, etc. Just saying what I know form experience. 15 year olds like high impacting magic.

I did some spongeball magic for some 18 year olds (you could call one of 'em a gangsta I guess). He told me straight up "That stuff is sick, that's your best magic right there man." to restrict spongeball magic to 8-11 year olds? You're missing out.

Have you actually tried it? The way you said "if" you brought them to school, suggests perhaps not, but I am intrigued.

its just my opinion and yes i acually tried to bring them to school 2 weeks ago and was showing them on the bus and well you know the reaction i got from my above reply but yeah for me they just don't work well even if i do a great performance with them it just never impresses as much as say: cards

That's a shame :( Have you tried 'em for a different group or anything? Perhaps not on a bus setting, you'd be surprised how much an environment can affect how people perceive/see your magic.

Personally, I'd give 'em another shot, with perhaps some different people. You can't just give up based on one bad experience! :D

Nevertheless, it was still good to hear the experience you had with them; different strokes for different folks and all that.
