Here's an interesting story.

Last night Chris, Jason England, JB and I went to the Andrew Mayne (Andrew is one of our very good friends) lecture at Denny & Lee's. There was a kid there from Canada looking through the books and Jason was trying to help him find what he was looking for.

So as we were leaving we had Chris Karpiak (another friend of ours) invite this kid and his family to our house and jam. Not only did he get one on one time with Jason, Chris and JB but as the night progressed Andrew Mayne, Chris Karpiak and Apollo Robbins were all over talking.... magic.

You never know what to expect in Vegas... and last night was one of the best "close up" experiences 14 year old Joel from Canada could have ever dreamed about.

So there's that...

Love,

Katie

Well, it seems like every out of work magician in Vegas has that "dream".

On the other hand, the competition between "name brand" dining establishments (Bobby Flay, Emeril, Joel Robusaun, Kerry Simon) and "name brand" entertainment (Lance Burton, Cirque, Danny Gans) compete ruthlessly with each other already in this town.

If your restaurant isn't name brand and you are going to be charging the same amount for an entree (Ala The Magic Castle) with no name entertainment (the truth sounds harsh, doesn't it?) I'm afraid it wouldn't work in Las Vegas. You have to remember, more people come to Vegas than just magicians and people who are interested in magic.

More people know what "Iron Chef" is more than they know who "David Williamson" is.

... And that is why I believe there are no magic themed restaurants.

It really was one of the greatest experiences. I was truly ecstatic that night when I was able to meet all those great people. Jason is definitely one of the greatest card magicians out there, had me blown away. As for shows in Las Vegas, I would have to recommend seeing Mac King, Penn & Teller and David Copperfield. I seen all of these shows and they were awesome.
