How can you not have a copy of EATCT next to you. :P

It was published in 1902.

The original question is too open ended, for cards I would say The Paper Engine is a modern classic. Or for mentalism Max Maven's Colour Series, Fundmentalism, The Artful Mentalism and Psychological Subtleties is also a must have.

jr?, On the off chance that you read this and/or take the time to reply (which I highly doubt) let me ask that you either post threads that make sense or, in the least, reply to your own threads when we ask questions or leave replies.

That said, if the point of the thread was about "modern classics", then I think people could gain a lot from that discussion.

Here's a short list of some undeniable modern classics.

THE MAGIC OF MICHAEL AMMAR
The Art of Astonishment by Paul Harris
The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings
Now You See It, Now You Don't by Bill Tarr (in my opinion the best beginner book ever published)

There have also been several releases of Expert At The Card table that came out after 1970. It may, indeed, be the same 100+ year old text, but being they were released in the past 30 years I consider it a loophole ;)

Well don't quote me and I am almost 100% sure I am wrong here, but I might as well throw out there Expert Card Technique, and NO, Expert at The Card Table was not after the 70s lol. Sorry. I think you should have put this for 1900's to now because I can't really name many. I guess Oliver Meech's book was worthy of being up here, Kyle Peron's book for sure. Joshua Jay's introduction to magic was really good. Again, none really being rare other than Kyle Peron's book and I'm sure nobody on here has even heard of it lol.

Expert Card Technique was written in 1940.

And my joke about EATCT was just that, a joke. ;(
