I heard that Youtube has a huge database of songs that aren't copyrighted and that you can use them in your videos. Is this true? If so where can I find it?

It is true. You have to upload a video with a song on it. Youtube will remove the song because it's copyrighted, then you can replace the audio with the uncopyrighted song.

You can use "Audioswap" anytime, even if YouTube did not remove anything. Look for "Audioswap" in your video settings.

Oh, and the music IS copyrighted, but you may use it for your video.

If you want original songs you can use on YouTube, visit incompetech.com.

Just wondering, if you have audio and music, and the music is copyrighted, do they remove the entire track+audio, or do they sift through the video to remove only the music?

Having done this many times myself, here's what I advise.

Search on YouTube for a non-official video containing the song that you wish to use. If you can find one that has been left with the audio, then chances are good that they will not flag the track.

I realize people have already answered, but I already made the pic and didn't want it to go to waste.

1) Go to "My Videos".
2) Select "Resolve Copyright" on the video you are having copyright issues with. OR, go to the video itself and choose "resolve copyright" from there.
3) Scroll down and pick the option "I want to learn more about this dispute process".
4) Scroll down and pick the option "Take me to the dispute form".
5) Pick option #2 and PASTE the following statement into the text bar next to it;

"Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use."

6) Fill out the rest of the info on the page. Use your REAL name where it asks for it. Choose "Continue" when all information has been filled out.
7) Scroll down on the next page and select "Submit dispute".

Within 2-3 minutes your video's audio should be back!

Youtube needs to crack down on this method. Fair use exists, but it requires that you use only thirty seconds or 10% (which ever is less)
