Alfie, I see that you edited your comment to now add that other kids were on phones, eating, etc. If that was the case then No, I would not see a problem with you playing with a coin at that particular time.

When you first posted your message, it came across that a teacher was up in front of the room instructing and that you were the only one causing a disruption. That is why I made the comment that I would have given you a detention as well.

Hope this clear things up a tad. Sorry to get everyone so worked up.

Hey Reverhart,

I know you are most likely a good teacher, as you appear to care for people through your posts and what you do.

I don't think it was just that the other kids are doing things - as that may be an exaggeration - I think we all just wish that teachers could connect with kids and see how to motivate them.

Anyhow - I am sure this kid will find his way - everything happens for a reason!

The thing is there was people with mobile phones, ipods, people eating and doing other things in the class and when she asked them to stop they ignored her and she didnt do anything...

I actully did do something and she got angry....

The sins of others do not excuse your own. You got detention for being a smart-ass. Draconian? Sure. But if you're expecting sympathy, you're masturbating up the wrong tree, sparky.

Next time try studying instead of fantasizing about what a rebel you are for dicking around in class.

This, only Steerpike phrased it better than I managed to.

The fact is you were being disruptive in class, he/she obviously has dealt with you before. Now not only is it disrespectful to the teacher, but it also disrupts the entire class. The teacher has to stop what they are doing thus stopping the lecture and attend to your shenanigans. Therefore if you continue this, you may get slapped with d-hall for disruptive behavior.

On an other note, this is why I do not like seeing kids doing magic in school. I did it all during high school, but I knew when to stop and when the appropriate times where. Furthermore, if you are paying more attention to magic then your studies, you need to rethink your priorities.

hey another thing,

learn your teachers, i perform in school, and i've got two teachers i can do magic in class all i want, one i cant, and one where its just not possible to perform(
band)

so adapt, perform when you can, and if your good, (i never thought i was) you'll build up enough of a reputation that the teacher may want to see you perform sometime,

just yesterday, my math teacher said "OK, class this is the only time webs gonna get to do magic in class so everybody watch" because she heard i was Good at it from my chem teacher, and my freshman geometry teacher, and my mom(who teaches) and all the other kids who ask to see magic. so she let me do ONE trick, and the only one i had on me was spongeballs, and i had to do it in a sort of stage setting, cause i was in front of the class and the whole class was in their seats, so every angle was exposed, and then i was losin my cool and my retention vanish sucked, and they all saw right through it, so needless to say, mrs.kniker doesnt think i'm that good.

but, just learn when its appropriate to perform, and when its not,

adapt. we all gotta adapt, its part of life

i'll have my spongeballs on my desk in math though and as long as i'm not like doing silent vanishes for girls across the room, she doesnt seem to care
