Haunted Pack

I've seen the classic Haunted Pack trick, and have an idea of how it's done, but am not sure the best props to use. Can you recommend anything for less than $50? I've looked at the Tarantula and M5, but those are out of my price range.

The best version I've come across is Spooked by Nicholas Einhorn, but that's going to run you around $85. My preferred method uses Loops. Yigal Mesika teaches an easy and very astonishing version using loops in his book Animated Miracles as well as on his Loops DVD set.

Loops DVD set + Mesika IET = $38.90

Thanks! I was thinking about Loops, but I wasn't sure if that was the answer, or if there was a better option.

Thanks! I was thinking about Loops, but I wasn't sure if that was the answer, or if there was a better option.

There are two that I can recommend. One is "Scared" by Jamie Daws, found here: http://www.jamiedaws.co.uk/Shop.html - The other is "Static" by David Jade, which can be found in the Tricks section here on theory11. They're both options I would consider first, and Scared doesn't even need string. It can be set up in less then 5 seconds and lasts a LONG time.

If you want the pack to look 'haunted' then don't get Static. It is possibly the least spooky thing I've ever seen. The fact the deck springs open the minute you lift your finger just looks so fake(?) and un-magical. To me the whole thing just seems like a mechanical novelty more than a magic trick.

Go with Loops, at least you can then make the deck cut slowly and mysteriously.

Edit: Just had a quick look at a preview for the Jamie Daws one as I wasn't familiar with it. Now that looks good! Nice and mysterious and with no thread to worry about! Might have to get the debit card out...
