I just purchased Sankey's Secret Files and noticed that one effect "Chameleon" must have inspired Lit. In fact Jay goes on to say that it was produced as "Lit" without his permission. I did notice one major difference in the climax where the spectator unfolds the matchbook. Since Lit is slightly different, did they need permission from Jay to put it out? I see many effects put out where there is just one minor change; I think you could go so far as to say it is the same effect with a slightly different handling or presentation to the spectator. For example, Daniel Madison has a simple effect on one of his dvds that to me is a very inferior version of the Shapeshifter. So where do professionals draw the line? If one magician claims that an effect is theirs, why do other magicians go ahead and release it anyway without their consent?
