Here are some pics that were just emailed to me from my last stage client. I wouldn't call it a stage...more of a platform in an indoor horse riding facility. I know my curtains look dark in the photos but they are actually maroon and I look like I "blend" in with the back ground. Not good, I know. I should get new curtains or a new suit that is gray or a bright color.

Thanks everyone. No David...no bullet catch. That was funny though. It's my "shoot a card" trick where the child shoots their selected card out of the deck that I hold in my hand. The Jumbo Deck that I was going to do with it never came in the mail which the gentleman promised me on ebay. Yeah...I wasn't too happy.

Will, yes, everyone said I did a wonderful job. I aim more towards the kid / family crowd and at this particular venue there were a lot of special needs children.

Chris, I'll definitely jam with you on Dobson's dog in a bag effect. The two dogs do need to be very similar or the effect doesn't play well! Ha Ha.

The big problem with balloon dogs are all the little erasers they tend to leave laying around for you to step in. . .

Rick, you're a brave soul to play to kids.

I have nothing but respect for children's performers in that they must put up with things the rest of us can barely imagine. While I've done many over the years, usually as favors to friends, they are my least favorite arena. . . Give me a big stage where I'm safe or a mature adult group ready to journey beyond the veil. . .

Ha Ha....thanks Craig. I am actually a 4th grade school teacher with 12 years experience so playing to kids is actually a bit easier for me than most people I would assume.

Hey Luis, haven't heard from you in awhile. I'm doing great. Booking more and more gigs. Some close up...some stage...some balloon sculpting...ha ha. Actually I have been working out quite a bit. I don't remember if I ever told you but I wrestled all through college and then competed in the amateur bodybuilding ranks for about 5 years. Now I just work out for fun and to stay in shape but I don't do anything near what I used to.

How are you doing? I ran into Jeff McBride and he said he remembers you.

Rick, Awesome pics man! Looks like you and your audience had a great time. Performing for kids is rough for most performers, but you handle it quite nicely. Perhaps your teaching does give you an edge over the rest of us, but either way it still takes guts.
Is this the show you were telling me about that had a guy that did a bubble show for all the kids as well?

Yeah, this was the show where I did a stage show, strolled for an hour outside, then came back only to find out that the "Bubble Show" went over and my show was delayed by 15 minutes. Ugh...not happy.

Just goes to show you that you can plan and prepare as much as you want for a gig, but nothings is ever going to go exactly how you planned.
