Creating a "Black Magic" routine

I am trying to create a routine based around the black magic theme. With all of the new all black decks coming out I was wanting to create something that gave these cards a little more mystery. I have been looking around and nobody really seems to be doing this. if anyone has any ideas, or tips they would be greatly appreciated.

That's probably because the people who do darker themes don't generally do a lot of card tricks, and when they do, they don't generally publish them or they publish them in less-than-easy-to-find places.

What are you going for, other than "black magic"? What specifically are you going for? What does "Black magic" mean to you? How can you apply that to cards?

i am really looking for ways to make it look like i have more control over the cards than i actually do, i have one trick in which i put a spectators card into the middle of the deck and it visibly floats to my other hand. i rub it to show it is the only card and after that it is can be examined. so sort of like that or good gaffs that can be easily hidden.

I think the problem here is you don't have a clear idea of what you're trying to do.

I've seen the invisible deck given a "dark magic" presentation. Obviously the haunted deck is easy to give a black magic feel. Heck, I've seen Poker Players Picnic given a dark presentation.

You need to decide on a specific effect you want to accomplish, then create a presentation and decide on a method that suits the presentation.

If you are going for "Black Magic" feel, then you should minimise the card work and focus on mentalism or mental magic that can be manipulated to look so.

As for Card effects that can be made to look macabre, Daniel Madison's BURN and Wrath, and Daniel Garcia's warning (Currently not available as stand-alone effect but included in his earlier Notes).

Spend a little time here and see if anything suits your interest. There may just be something up your alley or at least give you ideas.

Just be prepared to wait a long while before getting your order from them. . .

You're referring to Bizarre Magick (see -- http://www.dragonskull.co.uk/main_map.htm for greater insight) you may likewise wish to invest in Jim Magus' book The Aracana of Bizzare Magick which will guide you through the paths associated with this field.
