    Back Thumb Palm's enemy:-Gravity

Small notif...this guy SEEMS to be (like, 99.877763254122% surely) a spambot 'cuz he has copied and pasted one of my threads which unfortunately not many people helped...err...so maybe it's good? Anyways... But of course, you must have understood who's the original poster. I mean, look at the...

    What I performed tonight...

A perfect trick for me would be:- 1) Using borrowed objects. 2) Looks impromptu. 3) Suiting and complementing the surrounding environment. 4) Relatable to the spectators. 5) Relatively angle proof. 6) Does not take TOO long. Unfortunately for some reason most of my great tricks are card...

Sleight of hand vs Sleight of mind

*takes a dangerous quiet tone* Are you dissing magicians? AVADA KEDAVRA!!!!!!!!!! :D Just kidding mate...each man to his own.

Sleight of hand vs Sleight of mind

People seem to ignore I said this too :-) I don't feel my persona will allow me to perform mentalism (period?). But yes, I do think mentalism is kinda shady anyways. But that's different.

Sleight of hand vs Sleight of mind

Ah...I hope not :) Hmm...I see what you mean. But mentalism performed in an old style or new, both require your audience to believe what you are doing is true. There are lots of magic effects today however which does not need the audience to believe you are Dumbledore. To any one person...

Sleight of hand vs Sleight of mind

Thank you. May I now know more about what troubles thee, my humble subject? :D That depends on one's style, doesn't it? We must agree to disagree because clearly, your vision of magic as an art and my vision of magic as an art do not intersect anywhere. But that's okay, both the views are...

Sleight of hand vs Sleight of mind

Exactly, which is what mentalism should be...but many ''mentalists'', as @Bliff said, take shortcuts and actually use mental magic tricks as substitutes which are 100% fool proof with COMPARATIVELY less practice and then, such self-acclaimed mentalists end up being the face of mentalism for the...

Sleight of hand vs Sleight of mind

Maybe...heh heh...:-) It's because I never delved into its beauty completely since it's not really what I am into... Which is why I said I may be as wrong as Baba Yaga...did I not? All Hail Baba Yaga!

Sleight of hand vs Sleight of mind

I wasn't going to either way but...thank you for taking the time and trouble :) :) :) But I feel you took what I meant in the wrong way :) Well, let me clarify...I usually, like most magicians, don't like to sit down and explain to my audience the beautiful intricacies of sleight of hand magic...

Sleight of hand vs Sleight of mind

That's what I kinda meant, I do not reply to spectators point-blank, "Hey! That was just sleight-of-hand, no magic is not real, sorry!"...but you worded it in an infinitely better way. :) And about letting the audience draw their own conclusions...point taken and understood (probably)!

Sleight of hand vs Sleight of mind

You're correct. It's just that I see some of the more celebrated mentalists use electronic pens and gaffed cards, which ends up making the mentalism look like a mere mind-reading trick to me (not that I hate them). To the audience, well, they may not know the difference. So they won't be able...

Sleight of hand vs Sleight of mind

I feel performing mentalism is like singing a classical song. Sing it only if you can sing it really well, otherwise it sounds like trash. There's usually no 'in-between'. Also, some magician's personas just don't allow mentalism. In that case, there's no need to do it...altho well performed...

    Wand street Journal 6/12/18

One does not need to be a fanboy to like someone's work a lot. Maybe (read 'most probably') there are better sleight-of hand magicians out there than Ramsay, which is kinda true...he never claimed to have neat sleight-of hand. But his mind works amazingly (look at his vlog videos) and his views...

Effects/Tricks you wish would just go away

Well, surprisingly, although I still am of the opinion that most (not all) cups and balls routines are boring AF, I have to say every linking rings adaptation I have seen is intricately beautiful. And the way DMC does it makes me want to believe magic is real. However, even Paul Gertner's...

Effects/Tricks you wish would just go away

I dunno if it fits your requirements, but really, I have a feeling the cups and balls routine is highly overrated and although it needs a lot of dexterity, every variation of it bores me to death EXCEPT how Penn and Teller like to do it. Every other, I repeat, every other adaptation of it feels...

Effects/Tricks you wish would just go away

Yes...unless of course the theme for the sucker tricks becomes a classic 'Magician in Trouble' or ''Hey...just look at this weird thing that happens even if I don't do what I said I'd do...this is the part that doesn't make sense."
