    No Stupid Questions

So the definition of plagiarism is: "to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use (another's production) without crediting the source" (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/plagiarize). I can't find any website that has the same ideas or wording that...

That would keep people from thread bumping, but we would have to do it manually. However, there are some good old threads that are nice to have for reference.

    Double Double Face Routines?

Lloyd Jones compiled a 43 page book called "SBS" or "Same Both Sides" in 1973 that has effects using double facers that are the same on both sides. You can pick up a used softcover copy on E Bay for $10. There is a store that sells a pdf, but I'm assuming that is not legitimate since the book...

The Card Magic of Ed Marlo

So Conjuring Archive is great, but there are some books that it doesn't have. The Card Magic of Edward Marlo is out of print. Like much of Marlo's published work it is a compilation of lecture notes. Thirty-Five Years later is a video of a lecture Ed gave in 1986 in St. Louis Missouri, the...

    Need Routine Ideas!!!

Tomorrow? Go with what you know. Do Cardiographic. Come up with a method where a spectator can select the card. Send me a private message if you need ideas on that. Use the gloves to your advantage. Work that into the routine... "Since I've just met you, I have to ask... are you willing to...

The One Thing to Improve Your Magic

What is the one thing you can do to move your magic to the next level? For me, it is taking several routines and finishing the process of making them performance pieces. One of them requires building two props and memorizing the presentation, one requires buying an ordinary item so that I can...

Spread cull at the beginning of the spread

The key is to not think of it as a move. You just start a spread, interrupt yourself with a thought that causes you to relax and move your hands a couple of inches apart and then your resume the spread. If you want to add a layer of discrepant deception, pull the third card under the packet...

Spread cull at the beginning of the spread

If you are doing a face up spread, wanting the third card to go to the bottom of the face up deck -- just break the spread after the third card as you look up and say something to the audience. Then continue the spread moving the whole three card packet beneath the spread. If you are doing a...

    Is this a good trick?

In his book, Jarret seems to imply that Thurston's method was different, indicating that it had to be too close to the stage curtains. That would have confirmed my first guess for the method. But I was wrong. For Jarret's illusion, you could do it on an empty stage without curtains or...

Question for Aronson Stack (or any stack)

Tamariz talks about a method of learning in Mnemonica that works well. It combines multiple methods mentioned by @Gabriel Z and includes some great tips on what to memorize. For a song, make up your own. Base it on Jingle Bells, Mary Had a Little Lamb or some other simple tune. Can you sing...

    Self Working A.C.A.A.N.

If my guess as to the method is correct, effect is NOT self-working but is actually the opposite -- requiring a combination of sophisticated techniques and simple ruses. That said, there may be some self-working effects that are similar -- I'd just have to pull some books to remember which ones...

    A Couple of Ideas

You just fried me... twice and then you did it again with This-N-That. Nice work Matt. Can definitely see the influences on both effects. Good luck on the job search.

    Greatest lecture of all time?

Jeff McBride (just masterful in every way) Wayne Houchin (beautiful performances and great theory) Greg Wilson (best sleight of hand I've seen) Aaron Fisher (just hilarious... took an hour to teach one effect) Dani D'Ortiz (great ideas on how to present magic) Woody Aragorn (my long lost twin)...

    Trick History

That should be enough to get you started. The hard part is having the ability to review the cited sources because the descriptions often aren't enough. Magicpedia has some good articles: http://geniimagazine.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page Conjuring Credits covers most more well known plots...

    Self Working A.C.A.A.N.

I can come up with A method... it might not be the exact method (but I suspect it is pretty close). It is not my effect, so I can't ethically tell you how to do it. It is Jason's effect and his to teach or not teach. Also, we don't reveal or expose methods on the forums.

    Self Working A.C.A.A.N.

It requires a special type of Sharpie to make it work. If you shuffle the cards the exact same way and pick the two cards just as he did, it works every time if you have the right kind of Sharpie.;) But seriously, Jason isn't being serious. You've been had.

Tricks for those with bad hands?

I'd recommend a book called Scarne on Card Tricks. The effects are great and they don't require any sleight of hand.
