    Happy Halloween!

Given that I happen to be up and about at the uncouth hours of the early morn, I thought I'd take the opportunity to be the first to wish you all a very happy Halloween. Hope it's the best yet for you all.

    Searching advice

As an actor, I've found that just having fun works wonders. The hardest part is always taking the first few steps onstage, and once you're out there, there's no turning back so you might as well enjoy the ride. If you put energy and enthusiasm in, and try to hide your nervousness, however...

    Missing a card!

Do this often enough, and you'll end up with a one way force deck ;) Seriously though, as others have said, it doesn't really matter. It's important to know which deck is missing what though, because if you want to perform, say, Sam the Bellhop or some mathematical effects, you need a full deck...

    Blizzard by Dean Dill

Can I just clarify that I am British, and the only people that say 'a couple of mens' are what we in the industry refer to as 'wrong'.

A Mental Effect I'm Conjuring Up

It sounds quite nice, and by all means try it, but you need to make sure that people realise the first three cards are just for a joke. If you're not careful, you might have people impressed by the big reveal, but still wondering when their card's going to be revealed, which would make the end...

    Pen Swami

Cool, I've dropped him an email. Cheers for the suggestion.

    Pen Swami

Hey team, wondering if anyone can help me here. I'm looking for a pen swami, not like a thwarpie or other Sharpie variation, but a biro or something like that. Anyone know where I may be obtain such an item? Cheers in advance.

t11.bulletin - Steve Cohen : National Arts Club Award Winner

Excellent work Mr Cohen. Something like that is not to be sniffed at.

What Would You Like To See From theory11 Next

I was just about to suggest this. A performance video in which each performer breaks down exactly what they are doing, where they are building tension and how etc. could be really benefitial. Too much attention is given to the method these days, in my opinion, and not enough to performance.

    Unofficial theory11 Must Read List

I'll second Absolute Magic (and would strongly recommend Pure Effect too) by Mr Brown. If you only get one book again, save for it and make it this one. Really.

    Money To Blow

I'd go with the book. A deck could last you a week, or a month, but the knowledge will last you a lifetime.

    4-5 min. stage performance

Just to throw it out there, this trick would probably work better and flow nicer if you did in tossed-out deck style. Have one audience member come onstage and check that you are just using an ordinary deck. Switch it for a one-way force deck, put an elastic band round it, throw it out and have...

    Contracts?

Does that want to be 'confirmation'? Just nitpicking, but it's worth double and triple checking your contract :P

    4-5 min. stage performance

Agreed with everything said here, with the exception of the tossed out deck. If you're getting spectators involved, it will slow down your performance significantly. I think I would personally do a choreographed routine to music, maybe something like the zombie ball or a linking rings. A tad...

    Self Working Effects as Closers

Similarly to what everyone else has said, this is something that actually makes perfect sense but had never occurred to me. It also gives you a better chance of being able to put complete energy and commitment into the final effect, as well as giving you more scope to focus on presentation, both...

    What is Dan Sperry's problem?

Oh I know Dan had motivation, the troll reference was merely an example to demonstrate my point. I can see how Dan may have not been happy about the video (which found rather amusing personally, but that's irrelevant), but, as a professional, he didn't handle the issue in a very professional...

    What is Dan Sperry's problem?

It's true, but that doesn't justify it. If some troll started insulting everyone on the forums, based on the excuse that 'it's just who I am,' they would still find themselves banned like anybody else.

    What is Dan Sperry's problem?

I find it amusing that everyone seems to have taken Dan's side here, whereas I'm firmly of the belief that Dan is in the wrong. He might not like Incredibrent, but I don't go around publicly announcing that everyone I don't like is a douche canoe. I think he was quite out of line here.

Riddle of the Day :: Dividing the Deck Into Stacks

That was my point. Most other answers require extra knowledge or assumptions, and therefore I think the maths way as the way to do it.
