Adding sound to videos and adding music

Hey guys i have a video camera and i don't understand when i record a video its mic turns on but when i want to put the camera in the usb port to make it into a web cam type device the audio wont work and also i have itune's how do i add music to my videos tried saving it to a folder but it wont work any suggestions on both qs

You need an editing programme, if you open windows movie maker you can drag a song onto the timeline and it will be added.
