B&W Cards Last Longer : Fact or Fiction?

Hi Everyone,

Quick question as I am about to go to a magic shop here in England tommorow, I was wondering if this is true or not. (Whether to buy another deck of black splitspades or get blue instead is a question).

Also, I was wondering if cards with like all black faces (black tigers...etc.) last longer or shorter due to the amount of ink.

Does the amount of ink have to do with anything? Or are colors "heavier"?

I am quite naive on this topic so please explain!

Thanks a bunch :D,

I find that Black Tigers and Vipers don't last very long at all, the ink quickly wears off the edges and they look awful. I would definitely recommend Split Spades over the black decks.

well they dont wear down faster, but they appear to. when white faced cards wear down you just see more white. but with black they look more worn down.

Black split spades are awesome, because they're black and white you can focus on every detail on the cards.
They handle really well too - after a day of dropping them in dirt, bending them, cutting them, shuffling them, dribbling them, pressurefanning them, they still fan almost perfectly...

The black in does not affect how long the cards last, however the ink does fade or chip with time. Though I've only ever had a problem with Vipers chipping. I'm quite satisfied with Tigers and Shadow Masters.

All the extra ink does, however, affect how the cards handle. Not drastically, and depending on your experience you might not notice. I can't think of a white deck I'd compare Tigers or Vipers to, but both Shadow Masters and Black Ghosts are SIMILAR, but not the same as their white counterparts.

If you like black cards, I'd say go for it (except for Vipers). I personally use Guardians as my main deck, though I do enjoy Tigers

In the not to distant future
even though it wasnt asked, tally-ho fan back are the greatest cards ever. now to answer the question, i dont think that the ink on a card affects how long it lasts. the durablity relies on the material that is used to make the card - paper, finish. i might be completely wrong though
