Back to the Basics

Hey everyone, as a magician that has been performing for about five years now I constantly finding my self going back to learning double lifts and basic shuffles. Its not like I can't do them anymore but before I can further extend my abilities as a performer I have to go "back to the basics". I assume most magicians do this , however I would like to know what are some of the basic sleights that you have gone back to learn a second time. Personally, mine are the double lift, bottom palm, and the top change . I thought it might be interesting(for me anyways) to here some of the sleights you, the magic community have been working on.
Thanks

I always practice my basic because I found that once I took time away from them to learn other effects / sleights and neglected them....they began to look not as polished. I would encourage everyone to go back to the basics to refine certain technique. Sometimes you can change or learn the slightest touch and it fixes a problem.

I am always refining and looking for ways to improve my DL's, palms, and shuffle techniques (overhand). A good way to practice is to create tricks using them and practice/perform them so you can use them constantly. I've gotten over going back to the basics and just stick to them in most situations.

I know some more advanced moves for specific effects and have been working on the side steal to use as an overall control. I try to stay away from learning too many sleights at once, get one down and then go to the next one. The key to staying sharp is practicing all of the ones you already worked on while you're leaning a new one.

I always like to have a look through the basic books of mine (Card college,13 steps) because sometimes you might practice a sleight or routine wrong and then when you look back you will find something you did wrong.
