Bill to Lemon question?

A few questions-

So im planning to do a card to lemon, and i was thinking- should i palm the card before i reveal the lemon so it's truly 'dissapeared', or just do a color change or something?

Also- should i mark the spectators card with an x or is that too much?

Should i have a spectator cut the lemon, or do it myself?

And last of all- what can i do to attack the pip of the lemon back on? I'm guessing not normal stick glue because it keeps falling off d:

Palming is good but don't do it if your not confident with it. You could just put the cards away as you don't need them anymore?

You don't need to mark the card to get a strong effect. Look at the original concept for card through window. The card has no writing on it but it is the one trick people always ask for.

I'd suggest cutting it yourself as you know where it needs to be cut, or you could always start them off and then tell them how to cut it.

Use superglue. You're not going to eat the lemon afterwards so there won't be any problems :-)

Hope this helps!

Always cut it yourself. If a spectator was to injure themselves on stage accidentally, now the entire mood of your show is diminished let alone crazy people out there who want to sue over everything and anything.

Super glue as mentioned may work best for you.

While we do live in a sue happy culture (at least in the states) I see nothing wrong with having them, so long as it's an adult, cut the fruit. On the other hand, the performer will be less likely to cut through the card or bill, which certain personality types may just do, so they get the laughs and steal your thunder.

When it comes to the whole palming issue. . . I couldn't say in that I don't believe I've ever performed this or any variation of this effect. . . at least when it comes to fruit. I have had signed cards end up in a jar of peanut butter or even in a raw egg a few times. . . but I'm rather strange. . .

Card in peanut butter...I have a great idea for a new and improved sandwich effect!

I do believe the palming would be to 'clean-up' the deck, not necessary in this case. Keep your focus on the fruit and everyone else will follow along. (or at least they should...)

BRILLIANT! But since you don't want to use it...

It depends on the context of having a lemon. If you can think of a way to justify having it on stage then you can build a script around it.

Maybe it's a psychic lemon...and it whispers you the name of their card?

Maybe you can say something like 'I'll either find your card in an amazing way, or I'll eat a piece of this lemon for your amusement...either way it'll be entertaining.' (Find wrong card...three times...maybe one in your shoe...then cut into lemon and find it) All three cards you find wrong could be the same too...like a running gag type of thing. Would take some acting, remember - you don't know where there card is until you see it in the lemon too. ;)

Maybe...I don't know...I think the two presented are better than anything else I could think of

Aww...you don't like the psychic lemon? You could have even drawn a face on it...my mind is a strange place.

If you want to PM me and toss ideas back and forth I'm sure we could pull some good locations for maximum comedic and magical effect.

well, now that you mentioned drawing a face on it......

I hope you're not mocking me, it might hurt my face-drawn lemons feelings if you are... had you bet me $5 two days ago that I would be typing 'hurt my face-drawn lemons feelings...' on a magic forum, I would now owe you $5...

Back on topic, I think playing with both will give you an idea of which you prefer doing. (I prefer being somewhat psychotic and would talk to fruit on stage...I also spent 6 years of my life telling my mom I was going to clown college...)

The lemon thing could be fun for a comedy act, it's right up there with my buddy Dean's cohort "John" -- a Psychopethtic Toilet. . . I'm not kidding, it's a remote control mini-toilet that talks and so much more. . .
