Hi guys I'm trying to decide wether or not to get a porper clip specifically the carbon edition.
Some questions I'd like answered

Do porper clips damage the embossing of decks?
Do they leave scratches on normal decks?
What version of carbon edition is Dan and Dave currently selling?
Does the clip itself scratch?
How long does a carbon clip last for?
How well does the carbon clip fit?, does any part of the deck stick out?

Cheers, thanks so much :)

Hey James,

Hopefully I can answer just a couple of your questions here as I am not a Porper Clip expert. I hope someone with a deeper knowledge of Porper Clips will jump in later and answer your questions more thoroughly but I will try and help the best I can.

I have a Porper Clip (not a Dan and Dave Carbon Edition or Dan and Dave Clip in general), but I do have an original Porper Clip so I am basing my knowledge off of that.

1. So far, no. They do not damage embossing of decks as long as you are careful with inserting and taking out your decks. Dont forcefully jam them in there or pull them out with anger. Just take your time with it if you are having trouble at first and I'm sure it won't damage any sort of embossing in any way. It hasn't happened to me yet. Patience is key with card clips!

2. Going back to my answer with #1, it will leave scratches if you aren't careful with your deck. Treat your deck with respect! Sounds silly I know but take your time with it when you first get a Card Clip. You don't want to damage your card box if you are worried about that sort of thing. Like I said, patience is key. Don't get frustrated if you can't get it out. Don't jam it in either. Slowly slide it in.

3. Not sure on that one. I don't follow Dan and Dave's fancy edition card clips. I've had a regular edition, good 'ole Joe Porper clip for a long time and it's the same as it was when I bought it (minus a couple of scratches from dropping it on the floor). If you are going for style, by all means go for it, but you don't need to fork out the extra cash for the looks. Your spectators won't be that amazed by something that carries your cards (in all honesty). But hey, if you want it, more power to you.

4. Yes. All card clips scratch depending how well you take care of it. A card clip is supposed to take care of the cards themselves, so it's supposed to get scratched. Don't worry about it. If you're planning on getting a Carbon Edition clip but you don't want to get it scratched, you will get it scratched. Believe me. It will. It won't stay fancy looking for long if you plan on using it.

5. Depends on how much you use it. It should last for years, years, and years. And that goes for the regular edition Porper Clip, too! :)

6. I'm going to guess the same as all other Card Clips made by Porper, just a different style and look.

Hopefully I've helped out. If you have any more questions, please ask!

Thankyou so much Casey
Im trying to make a descision to get either a carbon clip or a standard clip
In regards to the carbon clip I was only going to use it when going out. You don't really want your s&m v6's or any other deck to get wrecked in your jeans right.. Haha ;) what's your opinion on that sort of use?
And is it worth it to buy a clip in the first place?

Thanks again

James,

By my understanding, the two clips will offer the same protection to your cards, but the carbon fiber texture one may look nicer to some.

A card clip is worth it if you plan on using a deck constantly. It's worth having.

Do porper clips damage the embossing of decks? If they do it's not noticeable.
Do they leave scratches on normal decks? Not scratches but the two outer corners will wear as normal.
What version of carbon edition is Dan and Dave currently selling? Look yourself at www.dananddave.com
Does the clip itself scratch? Yes. I only have the classic clip and it's very durable but it can be scratched.
How long does a carbon clip last for? A lifetime, it's Porper.
How well does the carbon clip fit?, does any part of the deck stick out? I'm assuming they're the same size as classic clips and it fits pretty much all decks if you remove ad cards and jokers. Two corners still protrude and will wear as normal.

In my opinion you shouldn't get a Porper to protect your cards. Originally I bought mine to protect my cards but it doesn't really protect them any more than being in your pocket (in most cases) but having a Porper clip get's reactions. I got mine about a year ago and when I pull a deck out in the clip people actually comment and are shocked I have something protecting my cards, it impresses some people and shows them you mean business.

I guess that varies depending on where you live, cause I've never gotten any comments on my Porper Clip or that I have something that protects my cards. They just want to see magic. Or maybe it's cause I don't draw much attention to it. But thanks for pointing that out formula!

As well as location, the kind of clientele probably has something to do with it. It's not very often that it happens but I've been left stunned by their amazement of my classic clip a few times. it's like when you spring a deck and someone hasn't seen it before or only seen it in films and they say, "Wow! Do that again!", leaving me thinking, "Seriously? I do magic too you know". What I'm trying to say is that a clip may not really protect the cards but it can only add to your magic and image.

Doesn't the standard clip cover the entire deck?
Also where I live it can become very humid, will clips protect your cards in those sort of conditions?

Thankyou for all of your help and anybody who owns a carbon clip to please speak up and tell me the positives and negatives about it

Cheers yet again
