There is no set instruction for how the Ambitious Card is done. Judging form your post count, it seems you are new. :) (Whether or not you are new to magic, I don't know. However, judging from your question and your post count, I'm assuming you are pretty new.) The Ambitious Card is a routine performed by many magicians. Essentially, a card is signed, lost in the pack, and produced several times any way the performer chooses. Most Ambitious Card Routines involve the card coming to the top as David Williamson hilariously and awesomely performed. :) (That's the type of presentation I wish I could do.:p)

Anyway, I'd look into some books such as Card College or The Royal Road to Card Magic before getting involved in the slightly more advanced stuff. If you are on a semi advanced level, I'll recommend Daryl'ls Ambitious Card DVD. It contains Daryl's amazing routine which has many of the same sleights used in the video you just saw. Once you have the tools (sleights), then you can use the sleights to create your own routine. :) I don't own this DVD, but it is high on my list. Almost every magician I have asked all say this is the best DVD for learning the Ambitious Card. Youtube Daryl's Ambitious Card Routine and you will see Daryl's performance. I think it is a bit over 8 minutes long. You'll learn everything in that routine and more.

Hope this helps.

This is such a great routine.

He does the same raise over and over again, but he makes it entertaining cuz he's so funny.

It's a funny not-serious debunking of misdirection.

Anyone else wanna help me break this one down? David Williamson is a comic genius.

And to answer your question?

Ellusionist's Crash Course 2 is a great resource that I started out with.
Then I got Jay Sankey's Extremely Ambitious which has some funky ideas in it.

Both are very good and the Daryl DVD looks really good. Daryl is a great teacher, I own his Rope and 3CM DVDs.
