Doing Magic for Jimmy Wong + New Effect

Hey guys so here is a video of me doing magic for Jimmy Wong (you may have heard about him during the whole Alexandra Wallace fiasco) Anyways the other night he had a live chat and I decided to try out a new effect on him. I've done this live before and it gets a great response, so I figured I'd try it out via webcam) I'd love your thoughts.

As a note this does use a real Dollar Bill, it can be used to reveal cards, and right now I have an update on the gimmick, I'm just waiting for it to arrive

This is exactly why magician's should not do mentalism, there is a huge continuity issue. You need to think about what the participant is experiencing. Obviously the bill has been altered to display the message, and you knew which celebrity would be chosen. Here in itself lies the problem, you apparently have difficulty getting the name yet it has been printed on the bill the entire time. Could the effect work as a mental magic piece, yes however there is no real magic in this example of it. Could it work as a mentalism piece sort of, it would require work but it could happen. I thought you were going to do the phantom artist, which would have worked really really well in this situation.

I see your point. Normally when I perform this effect live, I borrow the bill from the start of the trick and have it on the table in full view the entire time. When I get the celeb wrong, I open up the bill to hand it to them, and then cause the name to appear. In this situation I agree that it wasn't ideal, however I only was able to do one trick so I wanted one that would be fairly impossible
