What did you guys think of Drew's performance tonight on America's Got Talent?
I thought it was pretty good. I think I figured out the method. The judges seemed very impressed as well.

He actually did 2 tricks at once. Well, he did one and his assistants the other...

Overall it was good.

Pros
-He's able to take old tricks and refresh them to make them look new.
-He's got a great team, and according to the podcasts I heard, has this well planned out
-He's got the practice - he does these all on his cruise ship show (despite what he said on TV)

Cons
-Wardrobe tonight was awful, but I know why, so we'll give him a pass.
-He didn't look genuinely happy today. His presence came off a bit forced tonight.

Again, overall a good clip. I just wish more Magicians made it through. I mean, do we really need more dance crews/dancers/singers? There's AT LEAST 3 other shows for that sort of thing.

They let a lot of these people through for ratings. I think both magicians should have made it through. They sent one home ( sorry I cant remember the name just now but he performed with his wife). I would have gladly let both through and sent the little girl home, or one of the many acts that could never hold a show in vegas on their own. but yes I found his performance tonight very entertaining and the judges loved it

Let me tell all of you guys now... he won't win. Personally, I don't think he'll make it that far...

While he does some awesome things, magicians don't seem to do that well in the Americas Got Talent competition. Singers and dancers, without a doubt, usually win (besides Terry Fator).

well, Charlie Caper won in Sweden, so I have a small bit of hope.

Bottom line though, is I don't think drew is good enough to do vegas. Not yet. His personality turns on and off, and in Vegas, you need to be always on.

Now chainsaw juggler, I can see him in vegas. He probably won't make it too far either (he might be too extreme to be palatable to the general public), but he sure has the right personality and stage presence.

But yeah...I still don't get the point in letting singers/dancers on when they have at least 3 top rated shows of their own. This should be a show full of Magicians, Geeks, Circus performers and Carnies... The exception being dancers who do things that are non-traditional - like those guys on rollerskates.

Eh they pretty much let anybody on that show. I've seen people on there that made me think "What the hell?"

Drew Thomas Magic - Expect the Unexpected and Then Some...

Drew Thomas Magic is an exeptional magician that I have only recently discovered on the reality TV show, America's Got Talent. In this show, traditionally, magicians don't go very far, however Drew is an exception, who just tonight, was given the okey to advance into the semi finals.

Why all the info you ask?

Well, he has an amazing story. He told the cameras that he started magic when he was six and his mother would bring home the ocasional magic set, but he generally made his own magic using things around the house such as his mothers scarves. So, from a young age, he was a highly inventive magician. That's something that many of us lack these days. And that is the same exact reason why I fond his act so amazing, and out of the ordinary.

I will post a link to the performance at the bottom of this post.

Well, as the title of this thread states, you must be ready to expect the unexpected, plus a little bit more, when it comes to this crazy magician. And to think that this effect was devised in only a week or two. I won't give away too much, but as you watch I am hoping you will go, okay. I was expecting that, and then all of a sudden, it will smack you in the face.

Here is the link...

I would love to hear your points of view on this effect, any of his other effects, himself, or anything else.
