On January 17th, Deceptions Unlimited will be hosting a dual lecture at the Monroeville Holiday Inn in the Pittsburgh area. The guests? Ben Seidman (creator of iVanish) and Luke Jermay.

The night will be a split between magic and mentalism starting at 7:30. Seating must be reserved ahead of time at the cost of $15.00 per person. If I were you, I'd head over to the Deceptions Unlimited website right now and get that reservation.

I'm attending this myself, and hope to see a few others from the area as well.

First off, thanks for the notification, I am in Philadelphia PA (if anyone else is from there PM me!), so maybe I will drive down.

Second, wasn't Steerpike banned...?

I am a little confused now!

Take care everyone,

Steerpike has been unbanned. He talked it over with some of Theory 11's staff.

Argh, I wish I could make it down.:p Steerpike, if you could just pick up Pittsburgh and move it to where I am, that would be great.

And... That was my failed attempt at humor.... *sigh* Someday I'll be recognized for being funny. :(

iVanish is his only release so far. This lecture will be the only other material he's ever taught to anyone in the magic community.

Just got back from the lecture. Very intriguing.

Ben showed us some of his work he's been keeping close to the vest, including a new handling for an old coins across effect by Darryl. Ben's handling is easily the cleanest I've ever seen and one of the most effective. As soon as I can work out a script, it's going into my repertoire.

Luke fooled us all with ideas that you would never expect. And he punctuated these effects with lengthy rants on magic and mentalism that included some less than flattering remarks about modern effects being marketed. He admitted to being rather militant about his opinions, but if you can keep an open mind, listening to him can be a unique experience.

For those of you who were unable to attend, you missed out.

College has kept me from being able to attend any lectures around my area. I miss them.

I'm glad you had a good time!
