Fireball - what kind of fluid? (Not Ronsonol)

Hi there,
I want to do the fireball magic trick. I can't buy Ronsonol fuel in my country, which contains naphta. I could only buy Zippo lighter fluid, which is a petroleum destillate, but it says it is a benzina premium. Not naphta... Picture here: http://www.armyuzlet.hu/uploads/prod/01_146.jpg

I bought some 100% cotton material, but it burns too hot to hold it in my hands and it burns too smooky with Zippo fluid.

What is naphta exactly? Petroleter? And what else fluid can I use in place of Ronsonol?

There are many types of Ronsonol:

Or they are the same? Naphta and petroleum distillate is absolutely the same?

Pls help me what to do. Thanks. Google doesn't help 4 me.

What 'fireball magic trick' are you talking about?

I'm extremely hesitant to give anyone advice over the internet when it comes to fire. It is way too easy to end up doing something extremely stupid when fire is involved.

I agree with Christopher.
I burned my back palm when doing a fire trick that was going rogue.
I suggest you research more and try to think more about it.

How much experience do you have with doing things with fire which could result in permanent injury?

Yeah, sorry, not gonna help with this one.

I've seen what happens when people who think something like this is simple and not dangerous try to play with fire. I'm not contributing to it.

You have no experience in riding a bycicle too - you must learn and try it first. I've done many other fire trick (with flash cotton, flash paper etc), but not this one. Anyway fire wallet uses the same fluid.

I will not say how to do certain things with fire however I will point you in a good direction to start your fire conjuring.

I suggest the dvd put out by a French magician named Alpha.

His dvds the encyclopedia of fire magic http://www.artecoproductions.com/the-encyclopedia-of-fire-magic-vol-one-by-alpha.html

Teaches how to use fire safely in a show format. He has a background in SFX, from what I've read, and is probably one of the better people to learn fire magic from.

Be safe,

Keo

Speaking as a fire performer this video you linked is painfully simple to reproduce. In fact a cotton shirt, cotton sewing thread, and zippo lighter fluid will be enough to do what he's doing in the video.

Here's what you don't know. Fire burns. I know this seems like the obvious statement of the year, but the guy's hands in the video has probably built up some serious calluses over the years which makes it easier to handle a fireball like that. Even if you've been doing it for a while it still hurts, and can lead to second or third degree burns if something goes wrong.

When you work with fire there's a saying. "It's not a matter of IF you have an accident. It's a matter of WHEN, followed quickly by HOW BAD." That's the cold hard facts. Play with fire and you're going to get burned.

Flash paper, and other similar flash props sometimes fly under the radar with most performance venues simply because they're a very quick burn. However doing something like this isn't flash. It's full on pyro. That means you'll need to carry liability insurance, clear your performance through the fire marshals at every single venue you perform at, and given the liability involving fire you're going to be limited to where and when you can do it anyways.

If you want to do this more power to you. I recommend colemans fuel myself. It's a cleaner, lower temperature burn. But I'm not at ALL responsible for your stupidity should you get yourself injured or killed in the process.

Please be safe, practice with people present, and invest in the proper safety material. Duvetyne cloth, fire extinguishers, fuel buckets, etc.
