That gave me an idea that could be a cool reveal. Have a card frozen inside a small piece of ice...

See The Magic of Michael Ammar, "The Ice Man Cometh."

He did some more work on the effect, and lectured with those touches after publication.

There's also a very nice signed, borrowed, serial number identified Bill in Ice routine published in a small, out of print book call Theory into Practice.

Something cooler (no pun intended) would be setting fire to a card a then having the ashes appear inside an ice cube taken from their hot chocolate. wtflip!?

Hmmm.....

How about this...
The person picks a card.
Without looking at the face, you rip a corner off and burn it.
Then you take the ashes and drop them into the spec's drink (or make them disappear)
Inside one of the Icecubes is that corner of the card.

I'll get it on video soon and dig this thread back up.

Sounds pretty good, but how would you reveal it? Having it in your pocket would be a bad idea.

Ya, probably wouldn't be to bright of an idea. Everyone would be pointing at the wet spot on your pants and your leg would be really cold. "Behold...I have produced your card from my wet pants pocket. Do you wish to examine the card?" *Audience runs other direction*

Anyone interested in using Ice within their magic should make sure to check out my booklet, 'Freezer Burn', released soon.
It contains five effects centering around either producing ice, barehand or the apparent transformation of water to ice.
All effects use REAL ice, no slush powders or gelling agents.

PM for details!

@Chris:
I understand that you want to sell your booklets, pdfs, and other paraphernalia, but a lot of the posts I read from you are simply advertising. Give it a rest.

Make a topic in one of the proper forums, and if the item is good, then people will buy it and talk about it.

I've performed several different card-in-ice-in-drink effects, and although the idea is really nice, often times it doesn't turn out as well as we'd imagine. I think a major reason for this is the obviousness of the required set-up.

Of course, with a proper storyline, presentation, patter, and revelation, it could potentially be an amazing effect.

Just some thoughts,
Ben

I have never heard of anyone who intentially froze a deck of cards. How does it help them (if it does)?
