Goals

This is a small exert from my upcoming PDF release on Theory11's Wire "How To Get Gigs, And Keep Clients". I've expanded upon the original essay, that is (for now) found here on the General section of the forum. I've included a 9th chapter on Goals which was removed from the original work, and I've expanded upon many of the chapters to include new material, templates, and insights. The release date is scheduled for 3 days post when ever the Wire starts accepting material (which my sources are telling me that should happen by tonight.)

I hope you enjoy!

Be SMART about Goal Setting
Another mnemonic trick for quickly remembering how to set good goals is to use the SMART system. Since a lot of the information that goes into the SMART system has already been explained in some degree above, I’ll skip most of the flavor text, but I will explain what the letters stand for.

S- Specific. Goals are worded specifically to avoid confusion, and provide clarity. Why do you want to achieve this goal, What are you doing to achieve it, When do you want to achieve it by?
M- Meaningful. Goals need to have meaning in order for you to have the motivation to see them through.
A- Attainable. When you begin to set goals you begin to realize what you can do to achieve them. You begin to develop the skills necessary in order to make this happen. These are important life skills dealing with time management, financial obligation, positive thinking, and developing the right attitude. Don’t set a goal too far out of your reach otherwise you probably won’t commit to accomplishing them, thus robbing yourself of important self-developing experiences, and positive reinforcement.
R- Rewarding. The goals you’ve set for yourself offer you a rewarding outcome for accomplishing them. By accomplishing your goals you positively reinforce good habits and successful practices for you’re your business and personal life.
T- Trackable or Time-Bound. You can track or measure the progress you are making to reach your goal, and know whether or not you need to adjust anything to accomplish it. If you can’t measure something then you can’t manage it!
