When I do CMH I do it in the spectator's hand. The band is stretched between his / her thumbs. I explain that my band is behind their band and show that there is no way it could escape...even if I "pulled" on it. Of course this is when you do your dirty work. I then move it down the spectators band and use a lighter to "soften" the rubber and show that it is now able to penetrate.
Adding the lighter / flame adds a little to it.
