Goodbye threads are like...

......a child threatening to run away from home when his parents isn't giving him enough attention. The child wants to hear, "No honey, we love you, please don't go....we'll miss you". The child never really runs away. Sure he may stay at a friends house for a couple of days, but children who really run away don't announce it. The child will be back.


You know....it never ceases to amaze me how weak willed everyone has gotten in our society these days. It permeates into every facet of our culture...even the magic community.

If a few observations hurts you, then you have no business being in magic. In fact, you have no business doing anything risky in life. Just stay home and continue to have people tell you how special you are. That'll make it true.

In the real world you deal with lots of hecklers and many failures before you succeed. If you get your feelings hurt on a message board, how are you going to pick yourself up in real life? Think about that for a second guys.

Everyone is so easily hurt...everyone is a victim. No wonder people get their worlds turned upside down when little Billy films a tutorial on the double lift.

Stop being a victim to everything in this world. My god.

I just sent an email to the admins saying that every time someone says something uncomfortable and controversial, every one's first instinct is to label the thread as pointless or trolling and demand that it be closed immediately.

Sometimes I really hate being right all the time.

I've spoken against goodbye threads, and I don't disagree. But that's an oversimplification and nothing more than a poor excuse for a final attack, a final word. Don't tell me that if I had written the goodbye thread, or if say Sean_Raf had written that goodbye thread, you would have written exactly what you did.

You may well be right. I don't think is incorrect, but I do believe there are better ways to go about things. You may often veer on the more verbosely abusive side of things, but rarely is it an excuse for attacking a person rather than an argument.
