I received a phone call Saturday from an elderly woman who wanted to hire a magician for her husbands 80th surprise birthday party. She said she had called 2 other big names in town and they were already booked for the date but they both gave her my name. This is what is nice about being in a ring. We actually help one another out with gigs.
As I talked to her more about the gig and details she exclaimed to me that this was very important for her husband because he loves magic and did magic as a younger child.
Then she drops the bomb. She says, "My husband is one of the original Harry Blackstone Sr.'s students." I felt my heart start racing at that moment. I thought..."HOLY CRAP...this dude is going to know his stuff and be calling me out on everything." Ha Ha. She talked about how he used to ride his bicycle in Detroit to Harry's place and meet for hours.
I'm pretty pumped about this gig. She said that after the show he will probably want to sit and talk magic with me. It should be a good time.
