I'm On A Role Today

Today has been a great day for me. I've been on a role ALL day. It's been a pretty boring and rainy day for me. My parents are out at work, one of my brothers is away at college, and the other is away on vacation...without me. I was EXTREMELY bored so I grabbed my deck of cards and began experimenting. About an hour in I came up with a certain sleight of hand move that was VERY easy and began trying some stuff out. Today I came up with THREE effects.

One is a sandwich effect where the I place the jokers in an empty card box and hand it to the spectator to hold while he has a card selected which vanishes and appears inside the box in his hands between the jokers.

The second isn't too great but I show them some statistics about cards and then talk about how I hate it when I forget to take the jokers out of the deck because it always messes up the trick. Then I present a deck of cards that I tell them I left the jokers in. I tell them that either this deck is cursed or my luck is just terrible because whenever I use this pack they always pick the jokers. Then, of course, they pick the jokers in a very clean way.

The third is a Blackjack demonstration I do. I won't go into specifics but basically after explaining some things about Blackjack I mix up the cards and have the spectator choose where I deal from yet I deal the cards so that all the players have Blackjack and the dealer is left with terrible cards. I love this because it's really easy and ends COMPLETELY clean.

Anyway I just figured I'd share that with you.

Thanks,
Charlie

I don't think they're completely ready for that yet. They're reasonably easy but I want to REALLY get them perfect.

That just made my day.
A lot of people would have immediately said 'okay, i'll do a video right now' and put something up on the internet without taking the time to really explore and perfect it.

Sounds awesome though, finding new things out is always fun, even if you find out that it's already been discovered. Good luck with the move and new effects.

Thanks. I agree with how it doesn't really matter if it's already been done unless you're trying to market it. It won't make a difference to the spectators.

That's awesome! I have been on a creative dry spell this week (maybe because last week I invented 23 effects... ) but this morning I picked up a deck of cards and invented a new combination of an original color change, an original palm, and an original control. I am really happy with it.

I would love to see the videos when you perfect it!
