Improve Your Mind: Contest Details!

I've been thinking that people are procrastinating.:p I think you're inbox will be full of e-mails at about 11:59 Friday. ;)

If the response to these contests aren't big, then we probably won't continue them. C'mon guys. You signed up! Now make it happen!

-Doug

You're probably right. I've talked with a couple of people so far and I know of several that should be sent in by friday.

I think it's just a balancing act between work and school. However I am getting a lot of good useful data from this event. I'll share with you once it's completed.

As to my response for the kitties earlier, it be this:

You gave us 5 work days to write a really long essay... I will try thou, don't worry.

I wrote 700 words this morning without much thought to it. Maybe reading, writing, and thinking all the time has given me an edge on essays, but college minimum lengths were longer than this, and I almost always waited until last minute.

Length isn't the problem, editing out the filth will be tough though. (:

EDIT::I was wondering, my essay is turning into a lesson on how to entertain as a magician. It is how I see entertainment, and how it's done wrong, and what one should do to fix it (with better grammar than that last sentence) so ...should I save this until another time and start over? Or will the extra edge of a lecture-style essay possibly help?
...(:

Good to see some submissions. :) Draven has been e-mailing them to me as they've been coming in. I haven't read any yet, but I'm gonna start reading them tomorrow. I look forward to it. :)

Just want to say that I am slightly disgruntled with all of the changes to the contests since it has began. I feel that the changing of the essay format was fine. However, changing the deadline as well? You stated that you have enough entries. I feel it is not fair to those of us who have busted our butts trying to write a decent, quality essay on time.

Fair enough. I suppose I can make a retractment.

I just want this to be successful. Fine. Friday remains as it was the cut off.

Well, it's been an insane week, but 1500 words later, I finally got the essay submitted. Man it's like being in school again. Yikes.
-no wait, had I submitted it Saturday morning before the professor checks his email, then it would be like school again.

Hey question, does the winner's essay become public? I'd be interested to read the winner's essay.

Thanks.
Justin

Bummer. Due to the work overload this week and next, it seems like I won't be able to meet the deadline. I have about 10 minutes of free time left, and rest of today is going to be spent with school work and other crap. Grad school is a bummer.... Sorry William, I'm withdrawing from the contest. :/

As a judge, I want this contest to be a success as well. I believe we have enough entries, however, it is not even close to the 40 or so people who signed up. I do realize that school, work, etc. does take priority over a magic essay contest.

I have contacted Draven, and I too feel that the original cut off date should NOT be modified. Draven does have the final say since it was his contest.

It is only fair to the people who did meet the deadline.
