Hey guys, I'm excited to say that my trick, 'NO MORE CARD TRICKS!', is appearing in the June 2009 issue of Magic Magazine.

Here's what they say in the ad:

Jeff Prace offers us a deceptive closing piece in which thick tape appears wrapped around the deck you have been using, preventing you from doing more card tricks.

If you do check this out, please tell me what you think!

This is the only effect I liked in this issue, besides brain drops with the ball on shoulder routine. Btw, what effect did you mention that you used before the effect?

Jeff,

First, kudos for what you've been doing in the magic community. To be so young you have already done very large things and have my respect for that.

Your routine, though not for everyone, is quite cool. It doesn't really appeal to my style and the way I like to perform routines, but is, nonetheless, a very good routine.

The only real issue I found with the effect was the patter they put in the article. Though, obviously, everyone should use their own patter and such, it was really a lackluster kind of presentation in my opinion. Obviously this has no implications on the routine itself and every magician should use their own presentation.

By the way, as Josh somewhat mentioned, the routine is very Paul Harris-esqu... Has an AOA kind of feel.

Good work,
C

I just got my magazine today.

dillusion - Thanks for the kind words! I am glad you liked my effect. In the article, it says I perform a card to pocket, which is true. But I like to add this ending to a lot of card effects I do. And adding this to Phorgery as Josh Jay suggested is a great idea.

Cliff|Bumgardner - I actually was creating an alternative method to Solid Deception before this. That didn't work, and I tried a very similar method out with electrical tape. It worked great, and it's evolved to what I call 'NO MORE CARD TRICKS'

My style fits that presentation. As you said, the presentation is not for everyone. But I think that the patter can easily be changed, and is very flexible.

Thanks for all the comments!
