Hi guys!

I just wanted to know if there are any good magic tricks that involve alcohol. By this I mean taking shots, and the like. I am getting a job at a bar soon and would like to know what good effects to perform.

Thanks in advance!

There are many great cap in bottle routines, the ones that come to mind are captured and prohibition. Daniel Garcia has a great multi phase coin through shot glass on one of his project DVD's

Wait you want to get drunk while performing? Anyway check out a podcast called "Scam School" for some bar bets, scams, and some tricks. With that plugged, effects in a bar that involve alcohol, Water to beer, drinking fire (Don't listen to me I am nuts), Razor shots? (its a razor blade routine.) But that is all that I know at the moment.

David Regal has a few brilliant routines in his new book Approaching magic there is a whole chapter devoted to magic with beer its called "Liquid Refreshment" i believe the book is fantastic and i got see him personally perform one of the effects from the chapter and it is fantastic.

I don't endorse drinking while, before, or after doing magic. Unless the after part is in your own home and you are of legal age.

As always with alcohol drink responsibly, and don't drink and drive. Driving Buzzed is driving drunk.

With that being said: Simon Leval has a book called How To Cheat At Everything. I suggest you read it.

Hey , this may help :

I performed in Revolution Vodka bar every other sunday for two years, til they found out I wasn't 18.
I was 16/17 at the time.
But I dug out my old repertoire for you when I was a beginner magician at 16:

Ambitious Card
Card To mouth
Card to Shoe Closer into Deck vanish.
Quarters by Daniel Garcia without the muscle pass through glass ( as I couldnt do it)
I'd make the 3rd coin appear and go
into Silver Dream by Justin Miller.
Id finish off with Warning ( the one where you exhale smoke after lighting a match, to blow on the back of a card, and do a snap change slowly behind cover of me cupping the smoke to change the card to my business card )

The bar had matches on demand. Unlimited Glasses and a massive selection of spectators.

Things that I also do in bar work is get vouchers from the manager for free shots, and bet them with two card monte. I prepare two cards with vouhcers stuck to the front of them, and when I Switch the 2 kings for say Aces, im switching them out for blank cards with free shots on the front. Then thank them for playing, and they could go and get there free shots. It goes down well for magical and profitable reasons.

I absolutely love bar work, and if you are old enough to drink, you will have loads of drinks bought for you.......
I line them up at the back of the bar, or behind it, so when people ask what that display of cocktails is for, the bar staff can forward them to me, and they will more than likely add to it.
Then after performance you and perhaps your friends can enjoy the reward.

Get a folding coin though and do coin in bottle. That will floor everyone.

cheers,

Geraint
