Steer,

As always, you don't know what the f--- you're talking about.

Don't I?

Are you here to support one of these guys or take the piss out of everyone?

If I must support anybody it would be Baller in spirit. He's right that magicians for the most part are stagnant, stale, and unoriginal. Rehashing the same material, the same out-of-date one-liners, the same appearances, the whole nine yards. The Old Guard are too secure in their positions to notice the changes in culture and the market. They've got more job security than any of us, so naturally they're going to be a bit out of touch with the newbies. And the New Guard are from the Me Generation, too far up their own asses to recognize what changes need to be made and too obsessed with instant gratification to take the actions that need to be made. They want the best, they want it now, and they want it for free.

I don't like Criss Angel as a magician. Hell, I don't even like him as a person. I don't have to. What I do recognize is that he did something right that I didn't, and that's why he's a pop culture figure and I'm not. I despise 50 Cent as a musician and a person, but that uneducated thug managed to do something right that I didn't, and that's why he's more successful than me.

I would much rather spend my time taking positive lessons away from this then reminding the internet every couple of days which magicians I really dislike. "Oh, hey guys! Just thought I'd remind you that I think Criss Angel sucks. You know, just in case you ****ing mongoloids forgot in the last 24 hours. lol"

People who take a stance that, "Person X can do no right/wrong," have no sense of realism. It's either hero worship or tearing someone else down to build yourself up. And anyone who thinks I should join their team in such a circle jerk is free to kiss my ass.

Sorry I touched a nerve, Brad. Like I said, I know that after all your years of work, it makes you bitter that someone like Criss who doesn't fit your mold of what a magician is makes it to the public successfully and you haven't.

I like D. Brown, he's a great magician and I like his style. But to the public, he's no better than Angel.

It doesn't matter what you think of IMS, to them and to the public you're a nobody. Copperfield, Burton, and others you respect have won it. You are so blinded by your jealousy and hate that you can't give credit where credit is due.

You are the poster boy of why magic continues to not be hip and relevent to the public eye. You keep asking me about Angel and this isn't about if he's a good magician or not.

Find me one sentence in any posts where I said he was a great magician according to magicians. Waiting....still waiting. LOL...see? I feel like a big shot now too.

But seriously, find one sentence where I said Angel was a good magician by our standards. I have said repeatedly that he can connect with people and that's why he has achieved the success he has and been given the opportunity he has been offered. He uses magic as vehicle to entertain people and have done so more successfully than most magicians who are more technically skilled than him. There is something to be learned from that. I can see now that you will never learn from that and that's why you're in the bitter state you are in.

IF you say that anyone can do it with the right marketing team, that's when I asked you to show me how to do it. I asked you to some me links of national reviews of your shows, which apparently 15,000 per summer have attended. That's a lot of people and there should be many reviews written about you.

<shrug> Well, like I said in the closed thread, we can go on another 3 pages and we'll still be in this position. Till you can give me some national reviews about your shows and can show us how to better to do it, I'll stick to my original encouragement which is that we should all learn from those who have made it instead of slamming them.

Guys,

Why is it that every intelligent debate between members (as of late) has turned into a screaming match full of insults? We have never asked that all our members on everything - naturally, there will be differing thoughts and opinions - but please remember to remain respectful, professional, and courteous when posting, per our Forum Rules.

I think this thread has run its course and I'm sure others here would agree.
