Paperclipped - Weighing My Options

I have been performing for class for the last few days. Oddly enough, there haven't been any hecklers. There is one guy that doesn't really react, but he doesn't heckle and try to screw things up so it is all good.

I did ACR today, and then went from that to CTM (theory11 1-on-1) then finished with another CTM I know where it looks like the card is coughed up and is folded when it comes out of your mouth. Man oh man it was so loud in that class. Most powerful effect I have done to them yet.

I have 2 effects in mind for tomorrow. A hershey kiss trick where they blow a kiss to the deck, and a hershey kiss appears on the back of their card then I flip it over and pop out a real hershey kiss and it is gone off the back of the card.

Then I am thinking about paperclipped...

Here is where I need your help and here are my options:

1::use it as a transpo of two signed cards. One is signed and put into the paperclip, another is chosen and signed, and in an instant it changes to the first card and the second card is now paperclipped.

2::straight forward prediction, but the prediction ends up being their signed card

-or-

3::same as 2 only the prediction is red (while the deck is blue) and when I unfold the red prediction, it is still their signed card.

What do you guys think?

side note: usually the whole class is watching, and I am pretty much surrounded by people

I'd say the prediction would work best.

Well, since that you are performing surrounded. Paperclipped is not the best way to go since people will burn in your hands a lot. You need a large amount of misdirection. I would go Option #2.

Number 3 would be totally wild. Completely impossible and the idea of a switch would never hit them or make sense to them. Definitely go with number 3 if you have it perfected. Try to get a classmate to film it and try to upload it to YouTube. Then, post it here. Would be awesome to see you do it!

It will depend on what the crowd is like. The Kiss one could definately be performed surrounded. I'll see what I can do to get that on video.

Either 2 or 3.

Paperclipped is a really strong effect as it is. In my experiences with it, the original effect is stronger straight forward than it is turning it into a transposition or change.

Go for 1 if you can misdirect. I've personally managed to misdirect over 30 people at a time, I dunno if that's how much your class has, but if it does, go for that!

When I saw Mat (La Vore)perform this I had to go "shut up..." I wanted to slap him... I don't normally get too fooled by card tricks anymore... this one did it. The prediction presentation is strong, because as a spectator, you're expecting an unsigned dupe... But then the actual signed card is there!

I'd say don't perform anything for them for a while. It's easy to burn through a lot of material fast working with the same audience. Make them want it, and your reactions will improve ten-fold.

One thing I've noticed is that you can misdirect pretty much anybody if you make eye contact with them while you are doing the dirty work. This more to the fact that people are generally taught to make eye contact with people when somebody else does it. Also learn to do it while talking to them. I think Sankey mentions how to do it without having giving it away.
