I take the entire cult with a truck load of salt, and I'm always happy to make a friend out of one. I'm just harsh on the hypocrites, biggots, and sexists.

Don't get me wrong, I've said it before and I'll say it again, It's not God I have issues with. It's his fan club I don't like.

But everything you have said in this forum about your view of Christians makes you a bigot, and therefore because of your last statement, a hypocrite.
No one is perfect, at least Christians are trying. Ya gotta give credit for that.

If you don't like a certain group of people or their religious views, keep it off these forums please. Frankly, it's not welcome, and it hurts your reputation here.

That said, when is the performance? Are you looking for themed material or just appropriate effects? What church is it? Do you have time to learn something new? And is it for kids, adults or a combination?

"LOOK AT THIS ITS MAGIC! now... lets read the bible.. only god and jesus have holy powers? say what????"
I wouldnt suggest perform anything satanic: Stigmata, Wounded, Flesh Wound, Bleeding Tears, etc. It would kinda piss them off.
Perform something related to the church for christ sake!
levitation, rejuvinating fly, water to wine, multiplying bread, doves, etc.

Uhm, perfection is an impossible feat (obviously) so why would anyone strive to achieve it?
Not to mention, Jesus apparently died for our sins so Christians shouldn't worry about being perfect anyway.

Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. William has his opinion, you have yours. Just because they do not match doesn't mean either one is wrong.
Gah, why can't people just be open to things other than their own thoughts and ideas?

Anyways! I've performed at a church before, which was really weird for me, haha.
I'm not religious.. I guess you could call me more spiritual? Idk, I just do not agree with organized religion, at all.
But just perform visual effects. Things everyone can see but nothing too freaky where someone would think you're "the devil" or something. So I would definitely not suggest stigmata, haha.

Some mentalism would be fun. I performed E.I by Luke Jermay with my own spin on it and it went over well.

meh, I think that is a stereotype that isn't true. I perform stigmata all the time, same with needle through arm (with teens), etc. No one gets upset. Heck, I'm doing a torn and restored napkin tomorrow morning for the kids in front of the whole church for kids dismissal.

People are smarter than you think. They're not going to think I did real magic. There is a line where you are not respecting God, Christ, or the Holy spirit, that should obviously be avoided, but it about disrespect. That's why something like 'wounded' would be bad. It makes a 'show' out of something that was really important. Water to wine on the other hand, is not as big of a deal (unless you were claiming to be Jesus )

Don't try and pull a moral high road with me, not after attempting such an insult. You can attack my character and beliefs all you want in private messages. Take this vendetta off this thread and leave the original integrity intact.

We're discussing the performance of magic for a religious audience, and the types of magical effects that should be performed. What we are not discussing is my involved and rather jadded views of religion.

I'm through discussing my personal theological beliefs with you over an open and very public forum.

I'm also going to suggest that this thread be closed to the forum moderation. It appears that it is only going to spiral downwards in an exchance of flames from here.
