sorry i missed the Turntable SNC, but i hadnt thought of it back then. Ive practised the performance of Prophet well enough (in my mind) to go out and do it downtown, but i came up with a simple problem.

How do you approach someone on the street and ask them to perform it?
it just sounds a little wierd to come up with a couple of 1 dollar bills and suddnely say: "wanna see a trick?" or whatever...
do you have any thoughts on this matter? any help would be appreciated.
And any help from the forum viewers would also be appreciated!

ps: do you start with a card trick, or do you go directly to Prophet? just asking becauser in one of the performances you say: "lets put the cards away for a bit"...?:)

Well, i'm not Tom Isaacson, but perhaps I can offer a suggestion.

I really like the line he uses in performance "If I asked you to give me your money, you probably wouldn't trust me, right?" this is fantastic. You could approach someone and simply ask if they want to see magic, deliver that line and bam, go into the routine.

Also, as to putting the cards away, he probably started with some card effects to warm them up a bit before Prophet.

what also might be cool is if you went up to a cashier and say u wanted to buy something pretty expensive and took out five bucks (which isn't enough) and just do prophet to change them to hundreds and pay. they wont know what hit'em :D
..but yeah, if you wanted to do it to ppl on the street, just do what SharpestLives said.

hah

:)haha yes, that is more of a blunt thing to say...
i guess you could go into a shop and ask for something expensive and so, but then you have to buy it, and being myself, i dont have unlimited hundreds....

man.. if i could perform it, i'd do it when i'm buying something.

say you're buying something for $50, pull out 5 $1 bills.. then say "hmm, this isn't enough.."

then perform it and switch for 5 $10 bills and you can wow them when they're TOTALLY not expecting it.
be even better if you pulled the bills out of a fire wallet first =D

edit: gustavo kinda covered it first.. damn gustavo. :D

I think you should start with cards (or coins) first and then do this a bit into the set. I think most, if not all the tricks here on T11 are a bit too powerful just to blindside someone with. If you did a little ACR or a Triumph or some coin stuff first, you gain a bit of trust with the spectator and then doing something so visual as Prophet (or Distortion or Believe) just becomes an even bigger experience.

With that said I Extreme Burn (I don't have Prophet) when in restaurants a lot. I like to try to do some card stuff first if the waitress sees me flourishing, but if not they're usually blown away when the change happens as they're around money all the time.

Actually, spectators will probably trust you more if you start off with something that they see and use everyday- like money. It's definitely a double edged sword, though, and I can see your point of view, too.

I walk into CVS when I need some cards and get 3 decks wich equals 9$. When the cashier rings it up I sat. "Oh. five bucks won't cut it." and I show her five ones.

She says" No."

And I say " oh. Well, If I took one...two...three...four...five one dollar bills and snapped my finger like this." (I snap and do the change.) "then will this ten cut it?" and I show all the tens and pay with one of them.

the usually flip and start calling people over and I just wink and say" see you around."
