Put on the spot?

You little stalker!
Have any of you ever been put on the spot to perform in front of a large audience? It happened to me the first time today.

We had a double period today where we wrote a persuasive essay. When i finished, i took out a sponge ball and started practicing some vanishes. After everyone was done, the teacher talked a bit, then he goes "Well, we have 5 minutes to kill. Who wants to see Richard (that's me) do a magic show?" This took me by complete surprise and i was almost about to refuse but i saw everyone was cheering me on so i did it.

Me and one of my friends went up and i started performing my sponge balls routine. I took out a ball, did a split, put one in my hand, one in my friend's hand and made mine jump to his. Then i put both ball into his hand made it multiply into 10 balls. The reactions were good however they weren't as good as expected, mostly cuz the audience members didn't get to participate that much.

Anyways, that's my story for today. Have any of you ever been in a situation like this? I'm just curious.

This happens to me evry single day at lunch when a teacher or kid wants to see a trick. Then I wind up with a crowd of 50-70 people around me. The trick to it is being prepared for the unexpected. I usually have a deck of cards with me but what do i do when I don't? Easy... have a quarter on me? what if i don't have that. Do a psyvcological number, vegtable, or card force and read their mind. The only way to get it down is to get used to it.

Yup, once in the common room of my college, I was just messing around with a few friends, doing flourishes ect.. Then suddenly, there was around 15people that surrounded me, asking for a performance. I was completely took by surprise. I just did a couple Dan & Dave tricks and then it was time for lesson.

i was showing some friends a basic trick, then i kept going (this was during my RA training course) and then after that trick there was about 30 people around looking over other peoples shoulders and it was crazy.

This usually happens if you show magic to someone in an area where there are people.

Well i've actually have had other experiences like that. Once in study hall, my friend called me over to show his friends a trick. After about 2 tricks (one of which was Laced), i had the whole room around me. I've just never been put on the spot to formally perform in front of a large audience.

Oh, I've had heaps, but one comes to mind...
I was at a party and I'd been performing all night for the kids, and just as I was about to leave, the host asks if I'd show everyone a trick or 2. I gladly accepted, but I still screwed up.
I did the first trick fine, but since I wasn't used to performing for a large crowd I forgot to talk loud enough :( So basically... no reaction.
For the second trick I did Lie Detector #2, for those of you that know it, as I was spreading through to pull out their card, there were the 2 red aces next to each other and I couldn't remember which it was. Holy Crap.
I took a 50/50 shot at it, and got the wrong one.
But both of those things are my fault and all I can do is learn from them, which I have, that was about a year ago and I'd probably be doing a whole lot more parties if I did those tricks well.

I'm put on the spot pretty much all the time now, I'm just use to it.
I no longer have to go up to someone and ask them if they want to see it, people just come to me. Sometimes people I don't even know and have never met! :p
Somehow they'd heard of me! haha

Sometimes it gets annoying though, especially like a fridays because I'm sleepy, I'm tired, I don't really want to perform for anyone, but oh well, I do it anyways.

Fight!!!!

Once I started doing some magic in the cafeteria when I was in high school, & I got such a huge swarm around me that the school deans broke there way through thinking there was a fight!! They saw me & was like "Oh, it's just the magic guy." I'll never forget that day!!
