This is a message to all theory11 crews and staff regarding this video (see the link below) that I've submitted to this site about two months ago. Since the video is not on the media section yet, I assumed that it didn't get accepted and based on the wonderful advice that I've gotten from a lot of people on here such as William Draven, Rick Everhart, Craig Browning, and Mat Lavore to name a few, I now understand why the video didn't accepted. But today, as some of you may have notice, there's a new video up on the media section of the same effect that I did, but (so sorry to be so negative but it's true) the performance does not look magical at all and clearly that person does not listen to my advice, assume they've seen countless threads that I've posted, and doesn't practice enough. Go read the comment that I posted on that video if you'd like and you'll know what I mean.
Now on my video, I went out there and did my best and film LIVE performances for different groups of people with patter. I also perform this effect very well, as is clearly shown in the video based on me not tensing my hands and fingers like the video posted on the media section. I would seriously like ALL theory 11 staff to please kindly tell me why the voodoo doll video on the media section got accepted instead of mine when the accepted video is borderline on revealing how the effect was done? This is so unfair in my taste and would love to know why my video dodn't get accepted and what is wrong with my performance (again see below) compare to the previously said video on the media section. Thanks in advance.

Oh, and here's the video that I'm talking about on the media section if anyone is interested.

I hope that you were able to speak to support about this. That would've been the smart move before making it public. It was also rude and unnecessary to blast someone else's submission so publicly. I can't even express how great theory is about working with you. I'm the annoying submitter with ten thousand questions and requests. They always put their best foot forward and help out, and of they can't they tell me why. Submissions don't always get through. Probably a quality thing. Or a timing thing... We may never know.

A few times in your 3 year old baby tantrum-I mean post, you said that your post is for the T11 crew and staff. Why not just message a T11 staff member directly instead of crying like a 5 year old about why your video didn't get picked? Also, by linking both videos, you kind of shot yourself in the foot. It is very obvious why yours didn't get picked. The bad thing about these forums is that all these kids think they are entitled to getting feedback like "Oh, that looks great" or "wow, you are really good." But when they get criticism or rejection, they cry or make posts like you did. Just because you CAN go out a learn a trick and use 100% generic patter or the EXACT same wording and performance style as the DVD creator, doesn't mean you SHOULD. Just because you CAN do magic, doesn't mean you SHOULD. I know it's kind of harsh, but that's the reality - I'd be surprised if anyone actually agrees with me though haha.

I agree with Asherf here. I think it would be better to take it up with the support team before making it public.

Just letting you know that I'm not the type of person who always wish for a positive feedback in any of my magic because if that so, then I wouldn't be improving on my magic and there's no point of advancing the art of becoming a magician. If you don't like my video say so but I would also love to hear any improvements or tips that you or anyone else may have; constructive criticism is what I'm aiming for. My goal is for me to find out why one video is being accepted while the other is not. I agree with asher F maybe it's the quality thing or something else but a video should be focused more on the performance aspect and not the use of a new editing software. Oh, and I didn't whine when my video was rejected, as was said earlier in the post, but what I'm upset about is WHY this video got accepted even though I clearly put more of my effort into practicing and performing the effect. if this video would've never make it onto theory11 media section, I would not be upset or sad in a least bit

I realized now that I shouldn't have post this publicily, but what i wanted also was to maybe gain more advice on how i can improve on this effect/video for further submission. I'm going to message the theory11 crew right now.

While I think Steve's reply is overly harsh, he's got a hold of the right idea. This kind of thing should always be brought up first with Theory11 support first before you go blasting them publicly like this. Not that I'm against calling someone out in public, but it's usually a good idea to give them the first shot at fixing/answering your questions/problems before you go outing them like so.

Actually, the entire point of your post was to whine and cry the you didn't get accepted, otherwise you would have just contacted a T11 crew member directly and not made your tantrum public.

Now about your video. Two things jump our right way. First, in all of the footage you took you can hear the very loud background noise of other people talking and just the general loud noise of where ever you are. It makes it hard to watch since I can hardly hear you speak over the loudness of the background noise. Second, you are simply not an entertaining magician. It may seem to you like you are entertaining, because most people have never seen magic tricks in person, so they react with some sort of amazement. Which brings me back to my point... Just because you are physically able to do a magic trick, doesn't mean you should.

Once again I feel Steve has valid points. Granted he's using a cannon to swat a fly, but he's got some solid observations you could work on to improve.

1) The ambient sound is overpowering your presentation. At 10 seconds you've already lost most of my attention. The performance may be solid between you and the spectator, but for the purposes of a camera recording you it doesn't work. Either you need to pick a quieter area to record in, or you need to be miced. One or the other.

2) I really admire the fact that you're out in the real world performing for real people. I can't tell you how irritated I get watching a bunch of kids your age all sit around a forum or chat room talking about doing magic, and only performing for a webcam doing crotch shots. Simply by putting yourself out there in a real environment you are putting yourself ahead of the rest of the game. However that being said, you also need to learn discretion when it comes to video taping your presentations. There are sometimes where a trick is best done live, others it's best to do it in a studio environment. By studio I mean a place where you can control things like ambient noise, extras, traffic, sound, lighting, etc.

3) This is a powerful effect, but you have next to no presentation with it. I'd really sit down and rethink how you approach this. What kind of story are you telling? What do you want the audience to feel? How did you learn you could do this? It's not a puzzle or a challenge for the spectator to figure out... it's a miracle in your hands!
