Question: X?

hey guys, Just a quick question regarding an email I got last night...

I got an email from someone yesterday calling themselves "X" they mentioned some of their effects that they wish to market.

The interesting part is that X says that he is a high profile mentalist with several releases under his belt already along with TV consultancies but doesn't wish to associate his name with these old 'magic' routines of his...

He didn't give too much detail, but some of the effects and method's he presented were diabolical - Does anyone have any idea's or has received any similar emails?

I was just a bit confused, but I can understand his wants, etc...

Anyway, I thought I'd share that with you guys to see if anyone has any further info on the character?

Who knows, maybe we'll be putting some stuff out soon!

Hmm, I wouldn't want to just yet - Something may come of it, but it'd be interesting to see who he is

The methodology is all pretty bold, you can see his roots in mentalism just by the way he thinks, but I don't have a clue and it's really annoying! lol

Jay's got a very lo-tech way of thinking, this is by no means hi-tech, but it just doesn't look like him :S

Lol I doubt it's W:H or Kenner - They wouldn't come to me to release their material, They'd go all b'witched and wiggle their noses to make it happen as if by REAL magic...

Still no clues :S lol

He said that if I guessed, he would admit who he was, but I've not hit it yet....

I think if this X was serious about publishing some stuff he'd tell you his name, even if he didn't want you to tell others.
But think about it, if someone was a popular experienced mentalist, why would they want to sell stuff as some unknown guy? Wouldn't they sell more using their popular and known name?
Unless they want to become the next de'vo, then I doubt it's serious.

oh, this guy is very serious and has some great material that I can say that we WILL release.

You'll notice that alot of mentalist's will not touch magic, or associate it with their names as they are mentalists, providing something that they see to be a more real form of entertainment.

I can understand his reasons as if I was a sheer mentalist, I wouldn't release magic effects, it simply doesn't go with the persona you've worked so hard to build up.

We shall see how this all turns out, it's certainly an interesting project to say the least...

I remember hearing rumours of a "Magician X" or "Mr. X" or whatever before. The source probably isn't the best (my brother, haha), but he was telling me that there is a "Mr. X" who would sell their tricks to (ie. consult for) famous magicians like Criss Angel, David Blaine, etc. and that he fetches a pretty penny for his work. Also, that he never releases his actual name to the public or even to other magicians (I'm guessing unless he consults for you, as he'd need to provide a name in that case so he can get properly paid, heh).

Either way, my interest is thoroughly peaked.

He's revealed his name to me, under the condition that I don't mention it to anyone - He's a very out of the box thinker with his mentalism, I own several of his products in fact!

But yeah, His resume is as he originally mentioned - He's a cool guy... and coming soon!
