hey guys, first off id like to thank everyone who posted on my previous thread (products for my birthday). you guys were a big help.

anyways, i have been performing in public and at school for a while. i found out today that a restaurant is interested in hiring me (apparently they found out about me because one of the girls that i performed for is related some how or knows the owner of the restaurant or something like that). any ways im not sure about this. i would like to take up the offer but id be getting payed by the hour and i don't know how much to ask for, or how to pick a good audience in a restaurant. what should i do? please help.

If you don't think you're ready for it, just say as much. Restaurant work is very challenging.

If it's something you'd like to pursue in the future, find a copy of Live at the Jailhouse. It's pricy, but worth it.

Like I said, if you don't think you're ready there's not much I can do for you. Despite my over-inflated ego, I still know better than to think anything that I have to say could be a possible substitute for real-world experience.

I have to agree with steerpike on this one. I don't think youve been in magic long enough, or have the sufficent experience to do resturant work. Keep the resturants number in mind for the future though.

i agree with steerpike, if you have no idea in what to do in resturant magic there is nothing we can really do to help. its like an all street magic performer with a headlining show in Vegas, he can only have a chance of succeding if he thinks hes ready. but if your really determinded to do it, i highly recomend buying David Stone's Real Secrets of Magic it has great tips for resturant performers.

hey man this is just my opinion but if they want to hire you thats great i personally dont think magic in a resturant is to hard....if you go; when you approach your spectators be confident dont be them begging them so you can show a trick sound enthused and act as if your enjoying what your doing..in my opinion you have to learn some time, so this is great experience for yourself it wouldnt hurt to try......as in picking your spectators just simply confront them as they are sitting and soon people will see that they are enjoying themselves and you wont get much rejection but the main thing is DO NOT get discouraged if they reject you i cant stress that enough.....just enjoy yourself and good luck bro

p.s. its kinda hard to explain this online ya know but i hope this made sense and hope it helped

Sometimes you just gotta say no. But maybe you could ask if you could pursue it in a few more years. That will give you some time to practice. Best of luck!
