Scarpa is Italian for the word shoe. Considering that Scarpa sounds cool, that I am part Italian (my great grandfather migrated to U.S.A. from Italy), and that "shoe" has to do with an effect I just came up with....
...I think I will call my new effect "Scarpa"...
Now, this is if my effect and gimmick and handling is somewhat original.
I have been trying to create my own effects here recently thanks to 3 magicians that have inspired me to do so - Jay Sankey, Daniel Garcia, and Calen Morelli.
Not to long ago, I thought up an effect I called Ziplocked. The idea was cool, and it had a sweet subtlety but unfortunately I could not come up with a way to "clean up" the effect.
Here is my next idea - Scarpa -
This is a simple card to shoe effect. I came up with a gimmick, and the handling. The gimmick takes about 5 minutes to make the first time. Once it is made, you are good to go for a good while. Say you have the gimmick set up for a blue backed card but you are going out to perform with your Sentinels; guess what? It can be changed to a Sentinel backed card in about a minute and you are good to go.
This effect (I think) is clean. In a sense, the card is selected, signed, put back in the deck. You give the cards to the spectator to shuffle. You make a joke that it doesn't matter how much they shuffle it because their card has already vanished from the pack. They look through the deck, and the card is gone!
You then hint that it is in your shoe. You bend over, and (very naturally) take off your shoe. Your hands are also seen empty. They see a card in your shoe folded into quarters. You dump out the card into your hand and openly set your shoe on the ground to put your foot back in it! The shoe is seen empty!
The card is unfolded and it is the signed card!
I want to know y'alls thoughts on this! I will try to get a video up soon!
OH YEAH! I almost forgot to mention that the gimmick instantly resets as soon as your foot is back in the shoe!
Thanks guys for all the advice you have given me and thank you Jay, Danny, and Calen for inspiring me to create!
