Spin Doctor

i was researching center doubles and i came across jennings center double and it is the exact same as DnDs spin doctor. i hate when people take credit for things that are not theres like ellusionist does except nate k he is usally good with this stuff. also i maybe wrong but i think the center double also appered in totally out of control.

I haven't watched The Trilogy for a while but i'm fairly sure Larry Jenning's is included in the credits for Tivo 2.

I expect there is a small difference between the 2 moves, I don't think Dan and Dave would rename an existing move.

I don't own TiVo 2.0 nor the Trilogy so I can only go by what I see, this is what I've found.

In Chris Kenner's book Totally Out of Control, there is an effect called "Bad Credit", in it a move is described which is similar to the center double seen in TiVo 2.0 - the move is credited to Larry Jennings, first published in The Gen (1964). The move looks similar to that of the one in TiVo 2.0 except that the thumb is put into the pack to add as shade for the secret move - From what I can tell, the Bucks use only the middle finger or some such?

You can find all of that in the Out of Control section in the context of "Bad Credit" on page 130.

Now, I do remember something similar in Classic Magic of Larry Jennings so let me go get that... Okay I'm back and I've found it.

Indeed, it is mentioned that the two double lifts explained in "Double Your Pleasure" first appeared in the Magic Castle issue of "Gen" magazine. You might be interested to know that apparently Larry was the first to have Center Double Lifts and Snap Double Lifts in print.

Either way, the double lift used also uses the thumb (as in the aforementioned Chris Kenner effect) and then revolves out. You can find this in "The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings" page 138.

So... after that, I've come to the conclusion that from what I can see, whilst minor, the Bucks have modified the Center Double Lift to use only the fingers and no 'shade' as it were.

Of course there must be some other credits and center lifts in other books and products so, I'm all for more contributions to the pot. :)

Hope this helped a little,
- Sean

Well, the other double described in The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings looks just like Lee Asher's Diving Board Double.

Ideas float around. It's not stealing, it's development.

The original song was circle of life, not lives. So I decucted that it should be sleight - singular.

To be fair this is rubbish logic and I'm just hiding behind it because, yes it should be sleights.

I'm rambling again, so yeah... Shut up David, go rip your nipple off or something you freak. :p

...Wait you actually thought the Center Double Dan and Dave used was actually theirs? Also, can you please tell me where and when they said it was their own double? I would also like to know where the name "Doctor Spin" came from? I have not heard it in the DVD.

Also the difference that I see in the one in TOOC is that you use your index finger all the way, not your middle.

Spin Doctor is a little card change published in one of their books, (sorry not sure which one)
