I don't own TiVo 2.0 nor the Trilogy so I can only go by what I see, this is what I've found.
In Chris Kenner's book
Totally Out of Control, there is an effect called
"Bad Credit", in it a move is described which is similar to the center double seen in TiVo 2.0 - the move is credited to Larry Jennings, first published in
The Gen (1964). The move looks similar to that of the one in TiVo 2.0 except that the thumb is put into the pack to add as shade for the secret move - From what I can tell, the Bucks use only the middle finger or some such?
You can find all of that in the
Out of Control section in the context of
"Bad Credit" on
page 130.
Now, I do remember something similar in
Classic Magic of Larry Jennings so let me go get that... Okay I'm back and I've found it.
Indeed, it is mentioned that the two double lifts explained in
"Double Your Pleasure" first appeared in the Magic Castle issue of
"Gen" magazine. You might be interested to know that apparently Larry was the first to have Center Double Lifts and Snap Double Lifts in print.
Either way, the double lift used also uses the thumb
(as in the aforementioned Chris Kenner effect) and then revolves out. You can find this in
"The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings" page 138.
So... after that, I've come to the conclusion that from what I can see, whilst minor, the Bucks have modified the Center Double Lift to use only the fingers and no 'shade' as it were.
Of course there must be some other credits and center lifts in other books and products so, I'm all for more contributions to the pot.
Hope this helped a little,
- Sean
