Stage Flourishes

Stage magic has died down in the last few years, you would be best off buying stage effects from another magic store as Theory11 isn't really magic for stage as you said. - So many variety of effects you can perform, you just have to look around. - With stage acts, it is more about making the magic happen, and making the magic last, or if you are going to have short sharp effects, you need many of them to link together.

Depends how you want to work it.

well, if there is a monitor as you say, cards could be viable. Also, Penn and Teller perform their cups and balls on a large stage with no problems at all. It is, in my opinion, all relative to what you really want to accomplish. You could put some flourishes in there, but I would recommend it to be more of a "wow, what was that just then?" moment, on an off-beat. You can adapt many things the you do close up for stage magic. You could turn a simple card force into a large crowd pleaser. You could have them write it out large on a note pad, and then divine it in some way (prediction, mind read... whatevah).

But then, don't take any advice I give on this subject too trustingly. I don't perform stage; although I hope to give it an attempt in the near future.

You seem to be only thinking about cards on stage? - Stage effects can be very expensive... Here are some UK magic websites which do sell stage products:

http://www.illusioncraft.co.uk/
http://www.internationalmagic.com/
http://www.alakazam.co.uk/
http://www.practical-magic.com/

Have a look around, maybe something you seem interested in. It seems like you are not ready though, and it seems you can just pull out a stage act from a bag. It really is not as easy as that.

I was a finalist of the Young Magician of the Year at the Magic Circle in 2003, and I had the chance to work with Roy Davenport and he mentored me all the way through. Roy Davenport is part of the family here:

And it can take years to have an extremely good stage act. First of all before you buy tricks, you need to ask yourself what style, character, what do you want to achieve?

I should start off by saying I don't perform stage, never have, and don't intend to. Still thought I might as well post my thoughts.

Can you give me some stage magic websites? I'm curious what they use to perform magic? I've thought of backpalming before but the problem is that a whole stage crew is going to be behind me and we wouldn't want them to see that.

When is the performance? I think that learning tricks for a performance is, frankly, not the best idea ever. You should stick to what you know and have practised, rather than trying to learn and polish something new for a performance.

Listen to the man. Both he and Steven give great advice.
I particularly like the idea in bold...
Try to make sure it flows, you don't want a disconnected routine...
Again I don't perform stage magic, just trying to help.
Best of luck!
