Ive been doing a lot of effects that are more close up and won't transcend well into a stage routine.
I just need some good suggestions for effects for stage routines. Im already planning on getting Thread by Wayne Houchin. I don't know what else to check out. Any suggestions are very appreciated.

Oh and for the ones that will ask my style. I would put it as a comedy type of similar to Daniel Garcia.

Use the search button but as you are new:

-Anything visual
-How about card manipulation try buying Card manipulation 101- Dan sperry in the 1 on 1 section
-Mentalism works good for stage, try watching derren brown do a stage show, a master at work.
-Also for Stage magic theory and presentation try reading magic and showmanship there is information there on where to stand on stage, how to pass props etc etc.

You could do something as easy as using a change bag for a funny routine or a rope routine like Fiber Optics. A tossed out deck always plays big as well. Hope some of these helped.

Before doing a stage show. Make sure that you reallly study up on stage presence and presentation, I can't stress that enough. Because that comes before deciding what effects and illusions to perform. I'm planning a show for a year in advance as of now and I'm really learning a lot more than I thought there was to know about performing on stage and illusions as well.

Pick up a copy of Andrew Mayne's Illusiontech as well as Darwin's Inexpensive Illusions to get started on stage illusions and pick up a copy of Corinda's 13 Steps to Mentalism to get started on mentalism effects. These resources will help you tremendously, please pick each of them up if you don't already have them because they are absolute musts if you are going to do a stage show.

Best wishes,

dan sperry's manip. 1-on-1's were mentioned and i strongly recommend these. Dan's teaching is great... also if you have any questions, you could actually PM Dan and ask him... I have asked him some questions about stage magic and he responded in a day or two with some good advice...

hope this helped...

Do you mean real stage or something more like a palour show? Also how long do you want it to be and what do you want your audience to take out of it.

As for the recomendations of mentalism I am a huge fan of this however please make sure that you do it right. Mentalism has a reputation of being boring and for good reason. So very mentalists present it well enough to make it believable and that is the most important thing. Too impossible = trick highly unlikely = the chance of it being real.
